<-- Currently flying around Wintergasp due to a new Authenticator magically appearing on the account.

TankSpot website has a newspost mentioning a security problem they've had quite recently. I'd advise anyone who's visited the site to do a Virus scan. While I can't completely guarantee the Trojan I picked up was from there, it does seem the most likely.

If it helps anyone trying to scan their own systems, the filename of the Trojan i had was TROJ_PIDIEF.SMM. (It may not necessarily keep the same filename on other systems, but I imagine any help finding it would prove helpful).

The following response was written by one of our new teammates. Because they are still in training and do not yet possess a forum account of their own, they shall be posting via proxy through me.

Gah, sorry you were hit by such malware Sangdraxx =/. Fortunately, we do have a walkthrough on how to best recover your account and secure your computer, if you have not done so already. The following threads may be of great use to you, or anyone else in a similar situation.

Once you have taken these steps, go ahead and submit an in-game petition detailing the situation and explaining the account compromise. This will be received by a Game Master that can then forward it to a Character Specialist that is able to investigate the account and offer any possible restorations.

Additionally, you may consider a Blizzard Authenticator. Attaching one to your account can add an extra level of security and make unauthorized access to your account exceedingly difficult to obtain.
