US account/EU top up card.

I'm traveling through Europe right now and decided to top up my account early. I purchased a pre-paid card through a gaming store and went online to use it on my account. Lo and behold you cannot use EU cards on US accounts. This is kind of silly. I now have a 30 Euro (about 45 US) card that I can't return because it's been scratched and I can't use it on my account. Not sure why seeing as how it's all the same company. Can anyone explain this to me and if it's possible to fix it without spending another 30 Euros?

All authentication keys and game cards are indeed region specific, Timerry, and cannot be used on an account that does not match the region it is registered to. However, while you may not be able to add a European game card directly to your North American account, our Billing and Account Services department may be able to help you with this issue.
