All this hacking an authenticator conspiracy?

That is my conspiracy theory. Blizz's battlenet conversion made hacking way easier, making people spam buy authenticators.

Blizz is not losing anything when an account is hacked. What - it's costing them manpower, and that costs money? Nope, the staff is doing what they are supposed to do. I can say it isn't costing them ANY money because they haven't hired more temporary support staff to deal with the hacking. That's why when you call it will take hours to get through, when you do get through you get put on hold. When people get hacked they end up buying and authenticator. Blizz makes money.

Blizz doesn't really care about the hackers and the gold sellers because no matter what they, are making money. As long as people are being hacked there is a market for authenticators.

This is patently false, and moreover, not only does Blizzard Entertainment make no profit from the Blizzard Authenticator, there is a free Mobile Authenticator available. While it may be in human nature to find explanations (no matter how far-fetched) for observable events, when one jumps to such conclusions without evidence or appropriate acknowledgment of the facts, the results are sure to be spurious.

The World of Warcraft forums can do without such misguided claims.

While I realize that you may not run a business or manage employees, every task has a cost in man power. If staff are spending time and attention on a given task, then this means that other tasks are not receiving attention. We do our utmost to provide assistance

If only more players did choose to use Authenticators =/. Unfortunately, the vast majority of World of Warcraft players, compromised or otherwise, have not chosen to protect their accounts with an Authenticator.

Providing a top quality World of Warcraft experience is our top priority. We certainly do care, and we have entire departments dedicated to opposing exploitation within World of Warcraft.

We invest substantial resources in an effort to combat the activities of those who engage in exploitative activities and degrade the amazing world that we've worked to provide for our players. We will tirelessly continue to do so. We ask that our players do their part as well, by securing their systems and understanding the impact that the choices they make can have on World of Warcraft and on their peers:
