Terms of Use Violation -- Abuse of the Econom

Hi a member of my guild was banned this morning for the following

Account Action: 72 Hour Suspension

Reason for Action: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

When he logged in this morning his password was also changed, he checked his email and there was no notification of a password changed initiated by the user of the account sent by email, until 2 minutes before the ban started, so he assumed a GM changed the password under the suspicion of it being compromised.

Recently this member was promoted to officer (yesterday) and one of his responsibilities was handling large amounts of gold for the guild this lead to him having about 20k worth of auctions and transferring large amounts of gold between other people. Would this likely of set off some sort of warning at Blizzard and was caused the ban? He isn't sure his account was really compromised or not because he was unable to find any key logging or other malicious programs that may of comprimised his accounts security or whether it was just Blizzard being overcautious

Well, something set off some warning bells, Turks.

He'll want to email [email protected] and ask this be looked into further.

Alright, my friend has sent in an email but at the time he sent the email he thought his account may have been compromised, only later realising that the handling of large sums of money/auctions due to his guild rank may have caused the ban. Considering we have a scheduled raid before the time the ban is lifted, is there anything else he should do to have the ban removed asap?

Once an account is actioned, it's squarely in Account Administration's corner I'm afraid.

If you want to break forum rules, you should probably edit.

No need, I already got rid of it - please don't do that here. You would also be better served listening to your fellows that have seen a lot of posts in their time :)

We aren't going to be allowed to tell you what happened here, doing so would alert those that need caught in well....how to avoid apprehension.

False positives are extremely rare, but if one does happen, asking Account Administration to review is all that is necessary.

Yeah mate checked all over red rover nothing I know its all busy and shiz atm but 3 days is usually enough i figure

Given you aren't on an account that has been sanctioned, I'd need a little more information to even look at this - like a character name and realm. I may not be able to shed any more light, but I'd be happy to look.

Kaeljura barthilas was banned on saturday the 16th around 12:30 Aest (australian eastern standard times)

That action was for a name.

Speaking of which, I see three others that unless you'd like an even longer vacation if reported - you may wish to report yourself and get changed.

I am sorry, I was looking for something even remotely close to these others in this conversation. This is something totally and completely different. You should have received an email on this.

You can even report yourself now days?

Part of that letter you should have received refers to self-reporting any other names you may have that could be in violation of our naming policies so they can be tended to.

Turks,

While you say that none of your guild uses proxies, you might want to double check that fact.

That is a handy bit of information to include when emailing Account Administration.

Not at all Turks, I'm saying if an account action of this nature happens, that's a handy bit of information to provide Account Admin should you need to write.
