Ok here's the question:

Does blizz even care anymore if you straight up just buy gold and have it sent to your toon?

I know a couple of people who have done it on different servers just to see if they would get banned and no action has been taken against their accounts. Which leads me to believe that blizz doesnt really care all that much is this true or do you know of a different scenario?

so you dont have to take the time to read the entire thread here is my last post after 3 pages of discussion

Q u o t e:
I was kind of surprised that I didn't see this thrown out earlier (and if it was, and I'm just blind, then maybe I should take a nap!)

Blizzard's "penalty volcano". You state that their policy shows they will take corrective action, this volcano seems to sum up the flow of "corrective actions" they have the ability to take.

First off A lot of you think that i am just trying to find a way to buy gold let me make this clear I DO NOT BUY GOLD, I DO NOT WANT TO BUY GOLD. the only purpose as to why i started this thread was out of sheer curiosity from things that i have witnessed in game from people selling gold all the time to people actually buying gold and nothing happening months and months down the road to their said accts. furthermore the link to the article above gives some explanation about the blizzard discipline initiative and without hearing it directly from a blue is going to be the best answer we could all get about the topic. i thank you all for your contributions to the discussion as it open up my eyes to some actually intelligent points and also showed that we still have players who care about the game we all love so much. finally i am pasting what i believe to be the best answer i have gotten from that article explaining the ban process:

Account Closure

Accounts are closed when a player has excessively and/or grossly violated our policies. When an account is closed, the player is no longer able to access the account. Account Closures are rare and represent a player who is unable to abide by our rules and insists on negatively affecting other players' enjoyment of the game or harming the service itself.

* Most serious account penalty
* Very rare
* Permanent service revocation

The bottom line is that we want World of Warcraft to be a fun and safe environment for all players. World of Warcraft is an MMORPG, and the key words are "Massively Multiplayer". In playing this game, you will encounter thousands of other players who share different experiences and come from vastly different backgrounds. While certain actions may not bother you, consider the fact that these same actions may be perceived in a completely different manner by those around you. We have done everything we can to make World of Warcraft a great game, but now it's up to you the players, to breathe life into the world. Choose wisely my friends.

May you all enjoy the game as much as I do

The following response was written by one of our new teammates. Because they are still in training and do not yet possess a forum account of their own, they shall be posting via proxy through me.

Buying gold for real-world currency has been and will continue to be unsupported by Blizzard.

This activity is very detrimental to the game, and as stated in our article on the buying and selling of gold:

Q u o t e:
Players who buy gold are supporting spammimg, botting, and keylogging – activities that diminish the gameplay experience for everyone else.

The Negative Impact of Buying Gold

In short, buying gold is something that is not tolerated. Buying gold damages the community, goes against the spirit of the game, and directly supports those that would undermine and destroy the hard work of others.
