UPDATE:

A number of realms have reported high spikes of latency. If your realm is amongst those that have been affected, please make use of the Lag Reporting Tool available via your in-game reporting interface. This will generate a report which will help us to monitor conditions on your realm.

Here is a link to instructions regarding how to use the tool:

It appears as though conditions are beginning to stabilize, guys. Our staff are continuing to monitor the situation though.

It would be nice to use this feature in game but oh WAIT! I'm lagging too much to open the window...hello genius...that in game feature is part of the IN GAME features...meaning it lags with the game. Took me 10 minutes to load from Dalaran to Orgrimmar and now you want me to use that instead of you guys doing your own jobs I have to do it for you. Not too hard to see that the ENTIRE RUIN BATTLEGROUP has been affected.

I understand that there are times when reporting of this sort is not possible - such as when conditions are particularly severe or you are unable to connect. Typically, even in conditions of high latency it is possible to get a report out, which is why I provided a link to the tool.

Fortunately, I just logged into your realm and used the tool successfully without any issues, so using it should be possible for some players. It's important to point out that sometimes latency occurs due to connectivity issues in specific regions or originating from specific ISPs - it is not always easy to isolate root causes, nor is the issue always with our facilities.

What's even worse about them suggesting we use that little in game feature is that the characters you can supply are limited. thinking somewhere around 250 or so. Not nearly enough in my mind to explain to them what kind of crapfest we have going on out there. Its obsurd for them to think they are doing the best they can because this stuff has been going on for the last 12 hours that I can confirm from myself and friends online.

You need not go into exhaustive detail. A simple description of conditions is all that is necessary.

Q u o t e:
So maybe you guys(BLUE POSTERS) ought to think about what you suggest before you do start saying something.

Actually, I wasn't making that suggestion to you, specifically, though I am sorry if you do not find it useful for whatever reason. I was merely providing an additional reporting method, on top of the existing methods, via which players can supply information to the appropriate parties.

Q u o t e:
Maybe try suggesting something that you have possibly tried yourself because obviously you have no idea that the report problem window is pretty much useless...ESPECIALLY with the apparent high volume of petitions

Actually, the Report Lag Tool does not go into the normal petition queue, is not related to the normal petition queue, and reports information directly to realm technicians. Thank you for your insight though.

Q u o t e:
Whatever you say there Malk...but understand this...AV is Battlegroup wide correct. Im sure i don't live next to everyone in the battlegroup so I am guessing this is not just my problem with my connection or ISP. Call me crazy but who knows

I'm not going to pass judgment on your mental faculties, and I understand that you're probably rather frustrated.

I would like to point out that logged into Stormrage right now, Widgetto. A moment ago, I was watching an Alliance raid take down Drek'Thar in Alterac Valley as well. It is entirely possible that there are issues affecting the realm, however - Stormrage was amongst the realms I listed in my opening post earlier, and it's reasonable to think that issues are still occurring.

I'm merely pointing out that there are other places on the pipeline from which latency can arise. When the reports we receive are scattered, then it becomes necessary to examine other sources for an issue as well as investigate what is occurring on this end.

To which I'd like to add, there are three accounts in my household, all sharing a common connection. One of us is able to play, just can't instance at this time, the other two either can't get past the loading screen boss or are disconnected/lagged and then DC'd. One of those two is amusing himself by trolling the forums in the hope of seeing mention of a pending solution. Guess which one that is?

While I do have a technically savvy background, I am by no means a specialist, but to me, the above more or less indicates issues outside of a localized ISP problem, especially when mutliple users on a shared network connection are having different situations.

As is a danger whenever one makes a post in cerulean, too much was read into what I stated. I never meant to make a defining statement on the subject or suggest that there isn't an issue occurring on the affected realms right now. I was merely pointing out that latency in general does not always arise from the realms themselves.
