Will DPS stop complaining about rogue DPS

Rogues bring nothing to the table except close combat DPS. We don't buff, we dont dispell, we don't sheep, we don't fear. Why do you think rogues are the lowest played class?

We wear leather, have low armor and hitpoints. We're extremely vulnerable to close combat aoe's like cleave where in the madness of multiple mobs and friendly AOE's it makes them impossible to see and avoid

We are not sought after in guilds or in raids and in my 5 years of playing WoW, I have never heard any raid or guild leader say "So and so raid/guild seeking rogues"

In my raids, on multiple mob encounters like Anub, DK's and warriors beat the rogues, followed closely behind mages, locks and hunters and because they are ranged, they have much greater survivability, take less damage and need less heals. They also are extremely important and needed on many encounters to play a specific role, such as killing the adds on saurfang, putricide or killing ranged mobs like Ony.

If a raid decides not to take any rogues, the raid can still do very well.

If a raid decides not to take any ranged, it's screwed.

Just because rogues are now the kings of single target dps, it does not mean they should be nerfed.

I think some of the confusion from yesterday came from two slightly different topics being mushed together in some of these discussions.

1) Are certain fights unfair to casters?

Yes, there are definitely fights that benefit X over Y. By design. This is most of what I was trying to explain yesterday. Boss encounters are variable and that's intentional. There are very few Patchwerk-like encounters and that will continue to be the case. We're not going to promise that the first fight in every raid is the mage fight and then the next one is the rogue fight and so on. That gets predictable and boring quickly. If you have an important role on a fight (even if that role is staying alive) which causes you to do less dps, then you should still throw yourself fully into doing your job as good as you can.

2) Is rogue damage too high?

Quite possibly, and we might lower it accordingly. That's not the same thing as melee doing well on fights whose mechanics allow melee to do really well. That's not the same as "Icecrown being unfair to casters" because casters can't just stand in one place and nuke on every, or even very many, fights.

Hopefully that explains things a little better.

If you see something you feel is out of whack, then feel free to bring it up on the forums. If it's been brought up already, then chances are we already know about it and are considering whether to take any action. If we haven't announced any changes yet, then that might mean we don't think changes are necessary or it might mean we haven't decided what to do yet. Constantly bringing up the same issue over and over isn't really going to sway us more than bringing it up once. It might annoy other players though.

Ok wow .. that was early in the thread. It's barely reached 225 posts. Oh well it does simplify your life. Let all the grieving and name calling occur in this thread.

It's not about this thread's length or simplifying our lives, it's about the overwhelming amount of posts about the same topic. Rather than just deleting the multitudes of threads, we're providing a central place for players to interact that's consolidated and will help prevent other non "Rogue changes" related posts from being drowned out.
