Well i landed myself a new job hoozah. Was celebrating with the miss we both got smashed she passed out pretty early.

I kept the party going and came up with a brilliant idea of buying a battered hilt off horde because they had like 8 for cheap and alliance had none. Hoozah i thought, im a bloody genious.

Some horde guy jumped all over it and sold me one on neutral ah lol. 15 min later I realised I had done something stupid. Tried to sell it back too horde side but no one replied in trade, so i jumped too ironforge and advertised it. It sold too some guy for 12k. I bought it for like 11.1k according to my mail.

Anyhow i passed out not long after and woke up with the worst hangover i've had in a long time lol. Logged onto wow too everyone laughing at me about the stupid ***! i was going on about in guild chat etc. I got told the funny story about what I did. We all had a lol about my crazy night. Hell i even had random embarrising misstells in trade chat apparently.

3 days later account permantly banned for scamming -_-*

2 80's with the rest of the slots lvl 61 or higher. Reckon i deserved it? I dunno. But i do know that the hard work and effort you put into an account can be so easily destroyed without any thought for you.

Cool story bro? lol

Bourbon and World of Warcraft is not a good cocktail, I'm afraid, and it seems that this time you've landed on the rocks.

It appears that, despite your inebriation, you had a pretty clear idea regarding what you were doing at the time =(. Still, as with any situation where you wish to dispute an action taken against your account, the only appropriate point of contact is via email with our Account Administration staff at [email protected].

I don't think what he did is worth a banning at all. What if the purchasing player was planning a faction change for example?

Who are any of us to assume malicious intent by the seller and/or ignorance and oversight by the purchaser.

Restore the account in my opinion.

I'd like to provide the gentle reminder that this forum is not a jury, and that we are not haphazard in the manner in which we treat any account.

More importantly, a single episode of erring judgment, by itself, generally isn't sufficient to result in the permanent suspension of an account. There are almost always past actions which contribute to stacking penalties an account receives until it finally crosses the threshold.

He bought a horde only item off the AH and sold it to an Alliance person. Hence the scam

This is the heart of the situation, yes.

Suffice to say that the player in question knows precisely what he did, and functionally, I don't need to elaborate for anyone else nor am I at liberty to reveal the specifics of the action taken against another player's account.

I would like to help clear the air regarding why a particular activity might be construed as a scam though, and here's a link to the pertinent policy for further insight:

ok so forexample then why did the alliance dude buy it from a horde to begin with? the horde guy should be banned too no?

This thread isn't about what happened regarding the Horde player. I will say, given that the OP entirely initiated that exchange by specifically requesting to be sold the 'cheap' Horde version of the Battered Hilt via Horde faction channels, it is unlikely (though still possible) that the player who sold him the hilt would be held responsible. If you intentionally put yourself in a questionable situation, our staff may not be in a position to intervene.

The heart of the scamming policy is that misleading other players and taking advantage of them is against the spirit of World of Warcraft.

Let's cool it on the speculation moving forward in this thread though - I've had a chance to look carefully over this situation, and everything appears to be in order. There's really nothing to debate here, especially when these debates are held in the absence of facts or proof.

Q u o t e:
how is this not taking advantage of the ingame economy?

Q u o t e:
Thats not exploiting the economy, exploiting would be selling Abyssal Shards the say befor they know the economy is going to crash, when cata comes out.....This is not an exploit its sheer stupidity on the alliance part....that is not a scam.

No, this is incorrect.

The elements contributing to Economy Exploitation can partially be found in our How to Stay in the Game articles:

Q u o t e:
im surprised the nutrals are not used more than the main city ones.

The Neutral auction house takes a larger cut, which is why faction specific auction houses tend to see more traffic.

Q u o t e:

Are you a helmet kid? That is infact exploiting, That is not a scam you can sell whatever to whom ever is what you said, and he did exactly that. That is not grounds for a perm ban.

You're wrong. It's unwise to ask others about their headwear when you occupy such a status.

Aaaaand with that, I think we've said all that needs to be said on this subject.

I hope the information and links help clarify this situation, and I wish the OP luck in his discussions with our Account Administration team.
