Glad Blizzard encourages buying gold for Hilt

Because that's pretty much the only way you are going to get a Battered Hilt. Definitely not through an actual drop; I've yet to see a SINGLE one drop.

I'll openly admit that at this point people would be STUPID to pass on the Hilt if it dropped even if they already had it. They'd just get it to auction it off.

I know this might shock most, but I actually want the Hilt for the Quests and (OMG) the Lore. I'll be damned though if I am going to fork over 10k-15k gold because Blizzard refuses to properly make the item BoP, such a stupidly easy change to make.

Trust me when I say this, the Battered Hilt has done more to increase people buying gold than I think anything else.

Thanks Blizzard for encouraging me to buy gold, I just might end up doing that thanks to your poor decisions.

(I'll wait now for the 'nerdrage' posts to follow)

No it's not. The rarity and quality of the item determines its market value. That doesn't mean its price is beyond an amount which can be reasonably obtained by players through standard means.

We never encourage gold buying and have invested a lot of time and money into combating those who buy or sell gold. You're welcome to take issue with its rarity, or how much you don't want to grind for gold. But to turn it on its head and say we implement incentives for players to violate our Terms of Use is cynical, inappropriate, and will not be tolerated here.
