For some reason I get groups that insist on full clears.

/headdesk

I actually had it four times in a row one day, not very random blizz.

Anyone else finding that LFG loves it some OK?

Sounds pretty unlucky. I've gotten it two or three times.

With that said, we plan on making some changes to The Old Kingdom in the next minor patch. For instance, Elder Nadox will only get one Ahn'Kahar Guardian and Jadoga Shadowseeker will only use her Ascend ability once during their respective encounters. In addition, a couple of the stagnant groups of bad dudes between the Befouled Terrace and The Desecrated Altar will be removed, while some of the roaming groups will have their pathing altered. These changes are not to make this instance easier, but rather to make it a slightly quicker run and more in line with some of the other Wrath dungeons.

Any plans concerning the daily associated with this instance, i.e. a way to be able to get it at the beginning of the instance instead of keeping it in the quest log just in case.

By the way, why this and only this instance has a daily quest associated with it?

We have discussed that and recognize that the new Dungeon Finder makes obtaining, completing, and turning in that quest much more annoying. We'd like to do something to fix it, but I don't have any immediate plans to share right now.

Can the same change be made to Vexallus in The Nexus? Him going immune right after losing immunity is just as annoying as these two.

I think you mean Anomalus. Yes, he will use his Create Rift ability less often.

What about a nerf to CoS? [Sarcasm]: I love me a 10min RP before actually able to kill the first set of mobs.[End sarcasm]

We plan to do something to allow players a quicker start to this dungeon, however, the fix to the scripting is more complicated than the changes we're making to some of the other dungeons and likely will not be ready for the next minor patch.

Remember this for Cata too. Will be less work for you guys if you add these features from the start.

We've learned a lot from our Wrath of the Lich King dungeons. I think you can expect us to approach Cataclysm dungeons with some new ideas, especially taking into consideration the Dungeon Finder. This system has drastically changed the way dungeons are run and we want to make sure future dungeons are designed with this in consideration.

Is it really RANDOM? Based upon the "random"-ness I have seen, it almost seems as through there are mini-gear checks for the non-ICC instances. I've noticed that, for example, I very frequently have lesser geared players in my group when I get Utgarde Keep or Nexus (easier heroics), but usually get a fairly well geared group for something like Utgarde Pinnacle (harder heroic), which is also the daily heroic I seem to get very frequently.

No, it's not random. There are some loose gear checks and gear matching systems in place. The Dungeon Finder weights dungeons you've already run a little lower, but then also looks at who is in the queue, what they are in the queue for, and tries to figure out the quickest way to get you inside a dungeon. It's a fairly complicated algorithm that isn't trivial, took a good deal of time to develop, and we're happy with the way it's turned out. Ultimately, it's getting players in dungeons with minimal wait times, but it's not completely random.

Did you learn at all from most players that they were enjoyable before you nerfed them? I really want to see how you're retuning VC for Cata. I expect perfection. And no more effin' nerfs.

With regard to the many posts you've made in this thread, we're continuing to learn that time and difficulty aren't synonymous measurements. For instance, Anomalus could use his Create Rift ability 20 times before you could kill him if we wanted to make it so. This would increase the encounter's difficulty by a negligible amount, the hardest part of which would be staying awake.

As I originally said, many of the adjustments we're making to Wrath of the Lich King dungeons in the next minor patch is not to make them easier, but to remove some of the fluff that's already trivial for a large majority of those using the Dungeon Finder.

This is good to hear. I think maybe the weighting of frequently visited dungeons needs a bit of tweaking then. I believe most people wouldn't mind waiting an extra minute or two if it meant getting a different dungeon instead of a repeat yet again.

Well, it gets a bit complicated when you take into account all of the dungeons the other four players with whom you are grouped have run in a given day. The system will try at least a little bit to avoid giving you the same dungeon over and over again, but it's doing the same thing for everyone else while also making sure you have a tank and a healer, and everyone is appropriately geared for a particular dungeon.

I'm jumping in a little late on this, but any chance you could elaborate on some of the changes? What will you do different about vehicles in instances given the problems with Occ? (Personally, the instance wouldn't be so bad if I just stayed on the drake, but on-off-on-off-on-off is really annoying as a boomkin)

Is there any chance players will need to discover the dungeon before they are allowed to que for it? I'm sure many people have had the experience of waiting (or kicking) for a pugger that died in the ICC 5 mans and didn't know where to go.

What about the initial votekick lockout time? It seems that usually by the time you're able to kick someone for whatever reason you already have the instance done.

Thanks.

More information about Cataclysm will come in due time, my friend. :)

Who care about having fun? its all about gold farming right? Some people do not like running the same 4 or 5 dungeons over and over again when they join the random lfg.

There is way to much RNG in this game, rewards should be based on effort and the enjoyment or irritation should not be decided by luck!

The rewards are based on effort.

1. Choose the Random Dungeon option
2. Clear it
3. ???
4. Profit

The system can't decipher the likes and dislikes of each individual player when the Random Dungeon option is chosen. That's what makes it random. You take what you are given and are provided additional rewards for doing so. If this isn't to your liking, you're able to select only the dungeons you want to run and still collect Emblems of Triumph, some gold, items, vendor goods, and/or enchanting materials.
