Phishing warning

I use a unique (and therefore traceable) email address for every web site I register with and recently received a phishing email at the address I provided long ago to warcraftrealms.com. The email is posing as an official Blizzard email asking me to verify changes to my account using the subject "World Of Warcraft-Account Instructions" and tries to send me to a misspelled site to login. The only reason I even gave it half a glance was because I recently attached an authenticator to my account so an email telling me changes were made was somewhat expected.

Just wanted to warn people who've registered in the past with warcraftrealms.com that they've been hacked (or someone on the inside stole their account list) so beware of "official" emails wanting you to log into battle.net.

As always, check the URL in the email, check the address it produces in the browser if you click on it, and check that https: is the protocol and that it shows Blizzard for the company name in the secure ID part of the address bar before typing in your login info.

The following response was written by one of our new teammates. Because they are still in training and do not yet possess a forum account of their own, they shall be posting via proxy through me.

Spot on with the vigilance Gizmodo.

If you would, please forward that email to [email protected] so they can munch on it.
