I'm wanting to do a name change but before I do there is something I would like clarified:

Q u o t e:
Once the name change is completed, your character's old name will be locked from use on the realm for 90 days. After that time, the old name becomes available again and can be claimed by anyone on its realm on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is from the Paid name change information page.

If I want to change the name of my pally from Bill to Max because I want to make a priest named Bill, Does this mean I have to wait the 90 days before I make my priest as well as the public?.

I know this is what the quote is saying but it seems unrealistic that the person who reserved the name in the first place has to wait three months before using the name again.

Actually, this is exactly how the system works, Urmayetha. The old name will be unavailable to all parties (original name-holder included) for 90-days. Given your example, you would be unable to create a Priest named Bill until 90 days after the name was changed to Max.
