I wasn't sure if this was the best place to post this - but as I will (hopefully) be contacted by Blizzard and not by players im posting it here... *if thats ok* :D

Once upon a time when I was playing in Outlands, a player whispered to me the following exactly:

Hi, you have become a blizzard lucky Players, can get a mysterious gift, registered address: www.********-******.net

Now, I'm a bit confused when i went to the website it looked very VERY authentic but, as the cautious person I am I'm asking YOU (as in Blizzard team and NOT players) if this is a legit website and I DO get a gift.

But at the moment I think this is just a hoax and full of BS and they just want my account information.

Could someone (from the Blizzard mob) tell me what is happening here. I have taken screen shots of the whisper that I can send as proof.

I have used * to blank out the website AND the player name (hint: the name was like Blizzard) so that players don't go to this website until it has been confirmed that it is legit as I really don't want people to have their account security jeopardized because I posted the website link here...

I urge Blizzard to contact me - email preferably - so I can give you the web address and screen shots as proof.

Merry Christmas, (its 4 hours here now till Christmas Day!!! :D)

This is a very common scam - we do not send you to any websites but our own.

If you actually went there, I'd recommend immediately doing a deep scan of your system for malware they may have attempted to install.

This sticky may prove useful.

If we ever message you, or send you email ingame, there will be a little blue Blizzard logo by our name, no exceptions on that.

Q u o t e:
Thanks - I went to the website but didn't log in...

well - heres the website... if it is deemed bad to post it here then delete this reply with haste.

this was sent in a ingame whisper from the user: Biizzarmory

but it didn't have the blizzard logo on it...

Is it legit or not?

No Blue logo - NOT us.

Also, we do ask you not post URLs like that here - while I know you mean well, someone would surely take a 'peek' and get in trouble :)

Also, hyphens in a domain name - a URL are NOT periods. That's a scam, no part of this is legitimate.

They are hoping to steal your account. Many of these sites don't depend only on your handing over your information, they will actively try to infect your system with malware.

That's why I highly recommend good scans if you actually hit that website.
