How tasteless.How useless.

Last night was abova and beyond the lowest point I have ever seen WoW and GMs go.I am on Bloodscalp server.Almost everynight, there is the same group of people that log in and do nothing but offend.Hardcore racist ,sexist, dead baby jokes for all.I dont care to hear about how lazy/useless another race is,how women deserve to be beaten,or babies skinned.i asked them to STOP telling these jokes.
5 minutes passed.
10 minutes passed.
1 solid HOUR passed
and these same people were STILL in trade chat swearing and using THE most offensive and profane language ever. And what disgusts me is the fact NOTHING was done at all.Thousands of kids playing WoW and reading this. And the GMs too lazy, useless and unwilling to perform their job in any aspect. The typical response is "Sorry we missed you we will check into it".
Ban these idiots.I can remember a year ago when saying 1 WORD out of thei sentences would earn you a 3 day ban ,2nd timer youd have account banned. But alas like anything the GMs are only there to cut a paycheque, they dont care that my 2 young children picked up enough filth and derogatory terms to get them a day off school when the teacher heard them repeating stuff from WoW.Since last night they will no longer play WoW,and they also dont care for anyone elses children.
And before you say"swear filter" its a shoddy feature at best.you can space 1 letter from rest of word and it works and a lot of terms other than f--k and s--t are NOT covered in it.
So Blizz,I am wondering when you and the rest of the GMs will decide to be human once again and realize having people like this in WoW are destroying the game and making it a place that for 5 years I have enjoyed but do so no longer.
BTW I have heard all reasons why you CANT do something, give a few why you CAN than DO IT.We know its a faceless corporation that sees us as dollars but plz do somthing, this crap on Bloodscalp is gone way overboard.

You've my sincere apologies that your game play has been so impacted by the actions of your realm mates, Stalphos. The World of Warcraft is meant to be positive and fun, so I realize it must be incredibly frustrating to have your experiences interrupted in such a way.

While this has all been communicated to you by posters within this thread, I'd like to reiterate a few suggestions that may help improve your in-game experience before getting to the heart of the matter:

  • Ensure that the Mature Language feature is on at all times.
  • Leave the Trade channel permanently.
  • Leave the Trade channel while in major cities.
  • If you do not wish to leave the Trade channel permanently, or find it tedious to consistently leave and rejoin, create a separate tab for the channel so that its conversations are not easily seen.
  • Place characters using inappropriate language on ignore. If your Ignore List cap has been met, there are several AddOns you can download that can artificially extend it. A good place to discuss this option would be our UI & Macros Forum (https://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=11114&sid=1).
  • Report characters using inappropriate language via petition or email to [email protected]. Within your petition or email, please include the name of and realm of the harassing character. You may also want to provide the approximate time of the harassment and where it took place (Whisper, Trade, etc.).

I do thank you for reporting the behavior you witnessed just recently to the Game Master department, and for including the aforementioned details within your petition. It's very useful and very much appreciated! This information will be reviewed by an in-game representative as soon as possible and all appropriate actions will be taken.

Whether or not you continue to report such behavior in the future is your decision, of course. Neither the Game Master department nor Blizzard Entertainment nor your peers can require that you to submit a report. Unless a report is filed, though, we will not be in a position to respond, as in-game channels are not actively monitored for chat violations.

Now, I understand you believe the filing of such reports is unnecessary and that all action taken by the Game Master department in response to inappropriate behavior should be proactive. I respect this belief and, should you wish to see it possibly come to fruition, encourage you to discuss it in further detail within our Suggestions Forum (https://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?sid=1&forumId=11122). As actions taken by the Game Master department are presently reactive, however, it would certainly be in your best interest to report defamatory, profane, or abusive language as you encounter it. Regardless of who initially sees the behavior (you or a Game Master), the end result will be the same: as with your current petition, the behavior will be reviewed and all appropriate actions taken.

Also, if you've any other ideas for how we may improve the World of Warcraft and the service we provide for it, please do not hesitate to post those with our Suggestions Forum, too. Just try to keep your posts succinct, organized, and forthright. Our developers and designers read every thread created within our Suggestions Forum, so the more clear an idea is, the better. :)

Thank you again for your concern and dedication, Stalphos. If you've any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Q u o t e:
Syndri, is it possible somewhere for a player to log chat? A folder I am not aware of it going to? While I am clearly aware that chat logs can be altered (along with screenshots), along with the date/time being submitted, a copy and paste from a log would also help give the rep reading it something to go on? Maybe help narrowing down to the incident a bit faster? Obviously, what the Blizzard database logs say would be the "real" chat used, since players can alter stuff pretty easily.

As your fellow posters have mentioned, typing "/chatlog will enable the logging of in-game chat messages and should direct to the World of Warcraft\Logs\WoWChatLog.txt file. This logging needs to be toggled on, though, so it may not be too great for catching violations as they occur.

That said, all that's necessary for us to locate a line of chat is: the character's name, the character's realm, the channel in which the chat took place, and approximately what time it occurred. One could certainly review a saved chat log, if it's available, and then copy-and-paste the relevant lines into a petition, but if you can recall the basics yourself, then that step wouldn't be needed.

Certain AddOns track timestamps and allow you to copy and paste chat lines directly within the client, so that might be something to consider, too. :)
