Retrieving old character

After almost 5 years, I'm back to play again and I'm pretty sure I have one character that is fairly high level that I left behind. I dusted off the old files in my brain and was able to retrieve her name and server.

I just purchased a store copy of WoW and I'm not sure what to do. Is there a way to resurrect my old account? Should I start a new account and request a transfer of the old character? I have no idea where I put the old box of WoW so my old key is lost.

Thanks :)

Luckily you do not need your old Authentication Keys if you have already created the account; which from you post it sounds like you had. You should be able to recover the older account, though, and continue using it so long as it is still in good standing.

Since you have already gone out and purchased a second account you have a few options at this point. You can activate your old account and return the new copies of the game. You could use this opportunity to take advantage of our Recruit-a-Friend program (which offers cool incentives like triple experience, the ability to summon a character on the linked accounts once every hour, the ability to grant free levels, etc.). Another option would be to use the Scroll of Resurrection offer, though if you are going to create a secondary account I would highly recommend going with the RaF program as it is much more beneficial.

Q u o t e:

1. How do I recover the old account? I don't remember the email I used or my password. I just remember the name of the character and the server.

2. Could you explain the RaF features you mention? I get the triple experience part but I'm lost on the rest of it.

3. What is the Scroll of Resurrection offer?

I'd recommend giving Billing a call if you cannot remember the account details. They can verify your identity and should be able to assist. RAF is used to recruit another account, either a friend or someone else and confers various benefits on both parties.

The RAF FAQ is here...http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=20588

Scroll of Resurrection can be used once on an account to confer a bit of gametime to an older inactive account from a current account.

Billing can answer more of these questions as well while you have them - if you need more details.

Something else you may wish to look into is protecting your account with an authenticator.

It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will keep anyone else out of your WoW account. Not to mention core hounds make adorable pets!
