Nibelung: Why it should be reevaluated.

Im gonna apologize right off the bat for this being as clunky as it is. I spent the past twenty minutes gathering this information and tried to present it in a pleasing manner, but when I hit post it decided to tell me there was a server error and erase it. So, its gonna be short and sweet.

Pro's:
Staff Graphics happen to be cool, including the valk proc.

Con's:

They dont scale with your character. They start with no hit (testing on heroic training dummy, missed around 13% of the time, i testing this for about half an hour), and dont scale with spellpower.

Valks have no avoidance, low health, and have no option to try and relocate them if needed. The two that were procced on a lady deathwhisper boss fight died within seconds to a DnD. Give them avoidance, 10x the health they currently have, or make them immune to damage please.

Valks tend to run around when summoned. While testing on a training dummy, the valks only had about 16 seconds of dps time each.

The proc rate on this staff is horrible. Out of the four bosses of icc25, and the four of icc10, i had a total of 8 valk procs (including trash). I had two for each deathwhisper attempts, one during 25 lord marrowgar, two on gunship, and the rest were on trash. It didnt proc once on saurfang. Procs this unpredictable are pretty much worthless.

The valks had decent damage. They hit for 1k+, using an instant cast smite that has a cooldown of about 1.4 seconds. They last for the full twenty seconds, but like I stated before, sometimes they dont dps the whole time. Also, valks would do between 500-600 dps while they were out. Testing on a training dummy shows that they increased my dps by 20-50, making the dps negligible. Slapping 100 haste and crit on it would increase it by more than four times as much.

Proc aside, it was a downgrade from a healing MH (25 man ony, ilevel 245) and shriveled heart (HoR heroic ilevel 232). I did approximately 150 more dps with the MH/OH comp.

If this staff were to be viable, it would require 100 (give or take) haste AND crit added, or the proc rate/damage would need to be increased on the valks, along with 90% avoidance (100% maybe? We cant even move them.). Otherwise, this staff is going to become an abyss crystal :/. I stockpiled so much dkp to get this, and im very disappointed that im going to be stuck with it.

I apologize for any spellings or grammatical errors. Im kinda tired, and frustrated with the staff and the forum eating my post :[

One thing we would like to do is make it so the procs/val'kyr do not miss bosses. We agree that it can be pretty frustrating to have something like this when there is no way around it. Unfortunately we don't have an estimate on when this could be implemented.

We are currently in the process of applying two hotfix improvements to the Nibelung staff. The first change is that we are improving the chance for a val’kyr to proc from 1% to 2%. While this may not seem like a significant improvement, it will be notable and result in the val'kyr appearing more often.

The second change is that anytime a summoned val’kyr casts her smite spell, she will heal herself for 25% of her maximum health. This will help keep them alive when AoE damage is happening but not make them invincible as we still want them to feel like a summoned creature and not a special form of a DoT spell that has awesome art.

We understand the frustrations players have had with this weapon so far. We currently plan to make more proc weapons in the future and are committed to making this and other proc weapons fun and competitive items.

I updated my last post, the val'kyr heals for 25% of her maximum health and that is intended.

Regarding the proc chance, the recent change made it so other items/procs can no longer cause other items to procs, only spells a player knows. This is why we increased the proc chance for this item from from 1% to 2% but that is still a buff overall.
