Merging Accounts - Does CD key carry?

Hi,

I have a new account which i currently play on and has a few days remaining on the Burning Crusade 10-day free trial. I also have an old account which already has the Burning Crusade expansion pack CD key registered on that account. If I were to merge these two accounts, would the CD key carry along to my new account so I do not have to purchase another Burning Crusade expansion pack?

Also, I am not familiar with the entire merging process. Do I use my new, existing username, or do I create a new one? My old username is not a battlenet username, and I would prefer to use my new one. If I were to use my new one, would the CD key carry? Or should I use my old account name (and convert it to a battlenet username) so that the I am merging into an account that already has the CD key?

Thanks a lot and sorry if the explanation of my dilemma is a bit confusing,

Merging multiple World of Warcraft accounts to the same Battle.net does not merge them all into one. Each World of Warcraft account is still unique to itself and their authentication keys are not used for each other. This means if you want to upgrade your second account to Burning Crusade, you will need a new Burning Crusade authentication key for the upgrade.

Under the new Battle.net system, your username will always be your e-mail address. If you have multiple World of Warcraft accounts, they will be identified by their own names. Old accounts will maintain their original names, and any new accounts created on your Battle.net account will be with the new naming system of WoW1, WoW2, etc. You will see all these accounts available in your account management page, and you will be given a list of accounts to select from for logging in.
