Fake Authenticators

Once these hackers put a fake authenticator on your account, you are locked out. Why is that these are allowed to be used to hack acconts? If they are sold by blizzard, then why can't they be tracked? How is it that someone who doesn't even know my secret question, can lock me out even though I do know it and can't use it to get back in. And I'm calling from the phone number that is tied to the account, emailing from the email tied to the account, etc.

Other than the obvious answer of please buy the product the bad guy is using to steal from you, what do I do now? How can I fix this if he can steal and get back in over and over quicker than the GM ticket can get answered?

The only time that your password was reset by the Customer Service staff was following your report stating that your account was compromised, and that password reset was sent to your registered e-mail address. Additionally, neither our Billing or Game Master staffs have access to your current password, and would be completely unable to give your password to another player. Accordingly, stating that our Customer Service staff gave your password away is completely false.

I realize that you're frustrated by the compromise, and I completely understand; however, refusing to accept that the compromise occurred as a result of a lapse of security on a computer used to access the account or the registered e-mail address will only lead to further frustration. Please take some time to review the following thread for advice on how to secure your computer and report your account as compromised:

Q u o t e:
What I can say though, is that customer service had conversations with people that are not me. If the hacker had my info, why did he contact them?

I'm not sure what gives you this impression, Tijuanajoe. Can you explain further?

Customer satisfaction surveys are automatically sent following e-mails from the Game Master staff. The only e-mails that were sent recently were sent as a result of your in-game petitions in which you reported your account as compromised. Because multiple e-mails were sent for each of these, it's definitely possible that you have received more than one survey request, but this definitely should not be taken to mean that we were ever in contact with the malicious party.

It sounds like you've already come up with a few suggestions, Tijuana. I encourage you to share them on the Suggestions Forum to ensure the appropriate parties are aware of them.
