Should crits be 200%?

This isn't a "nerf physical dps" thread; it's a theoretical question I'm posing to the DPS board. Basically, does it make sense for crits to be twice normal damage for melee and some casters? Would the game be less dominated by RNG if baseline damage was higher, but crits hit for only 150% or 133% of maximum damage?

I'm just sort of idly musing, here. I like big numbers, but I don't like having to pray to the random number gods every time I cast / swing / etc. that I crit so I do decent damage. I'd rather have crits be a slightly random bonus over my reasonably consistent baseline attacks than mandatory for good damage.

Does anybody else feel this way?

Consider that one of the reasons casters must talent into 200% crits is to offer more distinction between the damage and healing specs.

We don't think high crits are a problem. The problem is really that crit chances have gotten so high (in part because we ended up making higher item levels than we initially thought we would when we came up with the rating conversions).
