Somehow one of my patch files got corrupted so deleted data.mpq and ran the repair function to repatch. Then when I tried patching, it said :

"failed to apply patch. please try again later. if this problem persists you may have to uninstall your game, or contact technical support"

I figure I'll reinstall my game its just, I can't delete my wow directory folder. I succesfully uninstalled the game itself but basically all of the folder is left over. When I try deleting it, it says

"Cannot Delete: Access is denied.Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use."

I checked my processes and no Wow.exe is running... what should I do?

Paranoya,

This is usually caused by a corrupted user account, so then the permissions get corrupted as well. There are a couple of things that you can try.

First, make sure the account you are trying to delete WoW with is an admin account. If it is then you can create a new admin account on the computer. Close everything that is open on the current admin account and switch to the new account. Once logged in to the new account then try to delete these folders again. If you are not sure how to create a new admin account google something along the lines of "How to create a new admin account in Windows ..."

If creating the new account doesn't work around this issue you can try deleting the files in safe mode.

Here's how to get into safe mode:

Paranoya,

In addition to what David mentioned, you can try gaining ownership of the Wow folder as mentioned here:
