Windowed mode and Alt tabbing crashes WoW

Hello,

Ever since I got my current computer (about 4-5 months ago), I have had issues alt tabbing out of the game. 80% of the time WoW will reach the "not responding" state.
I found a way to fix this, but since 3.3, my method now longer works.

Whenever I go into Windowed mode, even if I check the maximized option, the game just dissappears. If I control+alt+delete, WoW doesn't show up in applications, but it shows up in processes. If I don't close it in processes, and open WoW again, I hear sounds overlapping.

I've also tried opening WoW in selective startup.

Any ideas?

I've seen this issue occur with players using the same video device.

Try installing the latest driver for your video card and see if it helps:

Otherwise, try running in opengl mode. Command line options appended to the desktop shortcut will not take effect unless "Show Launcher" is enabled at the login screen.

- Right click on the World of Warcraft icon
- Click Properties
- In the Target field, add '-opengl' after the last quotation mark
Example: "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe" -opengl
- Click OK
- Try the game now with the icon you just modified.

Elmoe,

Replace -opengl with -swtnl instead and see if that helps.

Elmoe,

Try running opengl and swtnl together. If the issue persists, you may need to find a replacement video device/laptop.
