Well that is where things take the wrong turn. The weapon is not casual friendly, and it never has been casual friendly. Yes, I understand the hilt drops in a heroic, but the current drop rate bungle (the fix is showing no real increase in the drop from people who have been farming the hilt drop since the fix was implemented) combined with the fact that the Hilt itself is a BoE drop virtually assures that casuals who want this weapon are never going to see it.
Lets examine this closer for a moment, shall we? I have three level 80's who have been running the instances since the patch day and I have seen zero hilts drop. Now, lets assume that I did see a hilt drop on one of those characters, well I have a 1 in 5 chance of winning the drop, right? However, since its BoE I continually have to roll against not only people who need the item to use it for the quest, but also everyone else, because the item can be taken and placed into the Auction House for some quick gold. That, combined with the astronomically low drop rate, ensures that most casuals who likely aren't even running the instance on two alts, let alone three as I have been doing have virtually no chance of winning this item let alone even seeing it drop at all.
There is nothing casual about that, at all. There is nothing casual about being told by your staff on these forums that if we want the hilt so bad that 'Well, tough cookies, save up some quest daily gold and grind it out until you can buy it' which would take most of us several months to save that sort of gold that the hilt is selling for at the moment.
Again, I tell you, there is nothing casual about this weapon and there never has been. Unless, of course you count the first day of the patch where they fell from the sky in the new 5 mans while most of the players couldn't even get logged into the game much less the instances themselves. Something needs to change and the proposed solution is to make the Hilt a BoP drop, have it have a chance to drop only from bosses loot tables to prevent people from going into these instances and bailing out before the first boss as is becoming the normal way of farming the drop now.
