Paid Character Transfer down?

Not whining or even complaining really, but I've transferred characters in the past and despite the Average Wait Time and the disclaimer, etc. it usually is done in less than 30 minutes. It's been roughly 5 hours now and nothing's happened. Is something currently wrong with the service, or is it just unusually busy?

Just curious. I'm patient, just seemed a tad odd. Making sure nothing's wrong on my end.

Trying to get this looked into folks.

Terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

Can anyone that has been waiting for awhile look to see if you have the option to cancel.

That would be helpful information on our end.

If you should have that option, could you try that and then let us know the results.

Thanks!

14 hours here.

Edit: Didn't see the Blizzard poster there. I have the option to cancel. Do you recommend I use it and maybe try the transfer again?

More edit: I have used the cancel button, and it seems to have canceled as it would normally. When I go back into the character transfer option, the average wait time is still 1 day.

I really hope I didn't kick myself out of the queue.. I wouldn't want to wait another 14+ hours for this.

Did you start another request, Yaeva?

i did see the cancel option and i did cancel, i made a thread about it a few minutes ago.
whilst i was awaiting confirmation my character was not locked, i was able to log onto to him and everything.......dont know if this helps.

If you have any kind of process going, really shouldn't log into the character - that in itself can delay or hang things up.

Truly, you shouldn't be ABLE to log into the character, that itself indicates something may not have gone quite right.

Why would we cancel our request then resubmit it so it takes out of queue and puts us back into it at the end, that doesn't seem very logical to me

If the process hung midway, canceling and retrying can get you started again fresh.

We are still looking into this, but it appears in at least some cases that may have happened.

The website did have some maintenance yesterday morning. Really don't know if that could have affected these but may have.

If you've been in queue for some hours and have the option to cancel, I'd try that and resubmit.

I have now. Nothing has changed from before I hit the cancel button. Average wait 1 day.

If there are folks in the system for extended periods, that wait time may or may not be accurate.

Yeah, if the character isn't locked, I'd definitely start over - something isn't right there.

Those should lock up if you have a transaction in process.

I hate to be condescending on you Orlyia. But if I cancel my Xfer. I'll be stuck waiting for my bank to Pend the original charge. Then pend again for me canceling. Leaving my 25 Bucks floating in MIdair. I've had troubles like this in the past with the way banks handle money (Not with Blizzard mind you, but similar predicaments) and I don't want that much money of mine just disappearing and having the bank calling me to make sure that 25$ even existed in the first place.

Is there anything you can tell me and the rest of the Server/Faction and Name xfer customers that will put some ease on us? We don't all have credit cards. Some of us have to buy them debit cards.

Sincerely, Skisk

P.S.
I've been waiting to switch servers and factions so I can play with a very close friend. And I might not have much time left alive. I have a dangerous hernial surgery coming up and I'd really enjoy being able to play with her a few more times in case anything happens.

I can certainly understand your concern Skisk - and indeed, funds may be temporarily tied up till everything works it's way through the system.

In your case, a call to Billing might be better.

Ascot and Yaeva - yours look good. May still take some time, but it doesn't look like the process is locked up anymore.

Folks, I'd certainly give this a try if you've had an extended period of pending or a transaction just not going through.

Cancel it out, try again if you can.

I am terribly sorry for this inconvenience.

Oh, and by the way. Anyone that is wanting more than one type of transaction - say a realm and a faction change....please...please log into that character between processes.

While it doesn't always present an issue, logging into the character after the first transaction then requesting the second can prevent a few rares issues from ever cropping up.

Thank you for looking into this. I just tried to log into my shaman, and it is actually locked now.

You wouldn't happen to know what the wait time is now, eh? :P

Looks at the moment to be midmorning, but that could go down.

What character and realm, Grandal?

I canceled and redid the application as well. I got a confirmation of cancellation in my email. And now I'm waiting on the pending. I appreciate your help Orlyia, and hope that my account will be xferred by midmorning as you suggested.

If not. I'll just wait. And I'll take your advice and log into Skisk before I attempt to faction change. I do hate having to make blizz work harder by overlooking simple things like logging in to refresh the character cache so that fuzzed up data messes up information transferring.

One question, that I'm not sure is on subject. But when I change Skisk into a Draenai warrior. Will I have to redo my Sunreaver Reputation all over again?

Character---Skisk, Home realm Aggramar.
Xferring to Hydraxis. Update me Orlyia?

The factions around the Argent Tournament do reset, Skiske - you may want to look over the FAQ before you actually jump into a faction change. I'd hate for you to get any unwelcome surprises.

Ok folks, here the best recommendations I have at the moment.

Unfortunately, I cannot (nor can any Game Master) see as much of this system as Billing can.

What is being recommended for those that seem to have had a transaction hang for some hours, certainly those sitting at a day - try to cancel if you can and restart.

The pending charge issue could happen, but should clear itself like any other. If you are concerned that your available balance is an issue, giving Billing a call in the morning may be a better option for you.

Normally, these go through pretty fast - but transactions can occasionally hang. I wish I could give them a little kick in the britches for ya :)....but that I'm afraid is beyond my capabilities.

Here are the Billing contact numbers again if you need them.

I canceled and resubmitted and now my character is locked out, good sign imo!

Yes it is, Distare.

A transaction that is functioning properly should lock the character up so that it can not be accessed while the process is ongoing.

I'm having a similar issue. I'm trying migrate a toon from illidain H to Agamaggan H and every time i hit submit on the "confirm" page I get the message "An error has occurred." With nothing following, i've been logged out of the toon for an hour, his AH and mail are both clear. With no guidance as to why the error has occurred, i'm feeling a little lost...

Hmmm, this may be another issue entirely, Kînglol. Folks that have been in queue aren't getting errors.

Yours may be a browser issue. Have you tried clearing your cache/cookies - or using another browser?

Also, some of our webforms are known to not always play nicely with some browsers. Specifically Chrome, Safari - and sometimes IE8.

@Orlyia

Usually if it's something like ingame mail holding things up - that's exactly the message you'll get.

I am having this same issue. My first attempt my debit card was charged the 25 dollars but my character never locked and it was 100% useless. I then read this thread canceled my transfer and re-did it and the character didn't lock and my card wasn't even charged.

I'm guessing I will have to call billing in the morning.

Billing would be able to see more, yes.

Any charges made should either be refunded....if they actually got charged, or more likely these are pendings that will drop off on their own.

Pendings do normally reduce your available balance or credit, however - so if that is a concern please do proceed cautiously - and a call to Billing may be best.

Authentication was out for just a short while, but the transfer processes should now be going again.

We certainly do appreciate your patience tonight.

May still take a bit to work through the backlog - but you should see progress soon.

Thanks!
