Why are threads deleted?

This isn't something to complain about deleted threads (so it's not against ToS), but is there a general set of rules that say which treads are and aren't deleted?

If a CM/MVP could say something that could help, I could really use it to make better posts.

There is a high probability that your thread is still intact & related to a search re-indexing that is taking place right now.
