Lost my 25 arena points

I am going to make a leap here and a presumption you are referring to this character, a level 78.

That's the thing, 78's have no bracket and can't have arena points.

70's can, 80's can - there is no bracket in the middle between the two.

You'll earn these and they will temporarily show - but they won't be retained till you are 80.

Does that make sense?

I apologize for the confusion, Druidul, the patch notes were a tad misleading.

Only level 80 characters are able to earn arena points thus if you complete a Battleground daily, that would award 25 arena points, before you are level 80 you will not retain them.

Our Quality Assurance Team is looking into this matter but as it stands this appears to be intended.
