Empowered Imp Math

The Empowered Imp proc needs to be changed to 'next non-periodic' or 'next spell cast' or something so that the conflag dot doesn't eat them.

Here's my log from Saurfang. http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/j9t8i7g175ayz2b9/details/13/?s=9196&e=9516

I had 58 conflag dot ticks total. 17 hit and 41 crit. The Dot crit 70.69% of the time.
I had 26 casts of the DD portion of conflag. 10 hit and 16 crits. 61.54% crit chance.
I had 103 casts of Incinerate. 42 hits and 61 crits. 59.22% crit chance.
I had 33 casts of Immolate. 11 hits and 22 crits. 66.67% crit chance.
I had 17 casts of Chaos Bolt. 6 hits and 11 crits. 64.71% crit chance.

Now, let's say that 10% of my empowered imp procs are consumed by the conflag dot (number pulled from out of my ..., I haven't parsed the log that hard).

Conflag DoT hit total: 10594 - 17
Conflag Crit total: 52278 - 41
Total DoT damage: 62872

hit damage after 10% crit reduction: 13149.02
crit damage after 10% crit reduction: 47050.2
New total DoT damage: 60199.22

So the difference here is: -2672.78

Now, let's pick some random abilities that will now get to use these 4.1 extra crits. We will put 2.1 with incinerate, 1 with chaos bolt, and one with Immolate (to try to not make the results lopsided).

[total damage - number]

2.1
Current incinerate hit damage: 271635 - 42
Current incinerate crit damage: 788141 - 61
New incinerate hit damage: (271635 / 42) * (42 - 2.1) = 258053.25
New incinerate crit damage: (788141 / 61) * (61 + 2.1) = 804929.46
Net Gain incinerate: 804929.46+258053.25-788141-271635 = 3206.71

1
Current hit chaos bolt damage: 42829 - 6
Current crit chaos bolt damage: 164393 - 11
New hit chaos bolt damage: (42829 / 6) * (6 - 1) = 35690.83
New crit chaos bolt damage: (164393 / 11) * (11 + 1) = 179337.82
Net Gain Chaos Bolt: 179337.82+35690.83-164393-42829 = 7806.65

1
Current hit Immolate (DD only): 24085 - 11
Current crit Immolate (DD only): 102941 - 22
New hit Immolate (DD only): (24085 / 11) * (11 - 1) = 21895.45
New crit Immolate (DD only): (102941 / 22) * (22 + 1) = 107620.14
Bet Gain Immolate: 107620.14+21895.45-102941-24085 = 2489.59

Total net DPS change if just 10% of the Conflag DoTs are from empowered imp procs :
3206.71 + 7806.65 + 2489.59 - 2672.78 = 10830.17

For me, My total damage done was 2241578. Fight time (total boss time, not jsut my time) was 320.3s. My DPSe (total dmg / total boss) was 6983.1.

If 10% of the procs weren't eaten by Emp Imp, my DPSe would have been (2241578+10830.17) / 320.3s = 7032.18.

Now, this can fluctuate. The Emp Imp may be consumed more than 10% on some fights. Sometimes it could still be consumed on a cast that would already ahve crit, as it is now. The thing that I am seeing is that the conflag DoT is my highest critting ability across all my parses. This MUST be from the consumption of Empowered Imp, and only after a ton of digging will I be able to find the exact number.

This has netted locks a nerf for PvE destro.

Please change this to:
On next non-periodic destruction spell -or - include only Conflag [DD]/CB/Immolate/Incinerate in the cast list -or- something that makes it so it is not consumed. This is partially why Destro feels weaker after the patch, even after the buff to imp to bring our damage up post conflag changes.

Empowered Imp is not being eaten by Conflag ticks. The data aren't set up that way and we can't observe it happening. You can test it yourself by waiting for Empowered Imp to proc and then casting nothing but Conflag to see if the buff goes away.

There may be something else happening, but it's not as simple as just losing the Empowered Imp proc from Conflag. If anyone has any more information, please let us know.
