Blue: Why can't I queue BG's and RD's?

Why is it that I am forced to wait upwards of 10-20 mins to dps a heroic while unable to queue for PvP? When I am online, I'd like to maximize my time each day.

Being forced to artificially be restricted to PvP or PvE (assuming I want to improve my character in a meaningful way) results in a much longer wait for me personally for either aspect.

Also, only allowing queues for PvE or PvP so far has had the effect of drastically reducing the numbers of BG's going on at any one time. I've given up on doing anything but WSG or AB during the week before about 5pm est.

Is there any valid reason in restricting what players can queue? I've not seen any posts regarding this, so I am a tad annoyed and would like an explanation.

* To trolls: spare me the trouble of criticizing my gear, spec, class (roll a tank lolololol), possible grammar errors, TLDR's, or inapplicable Mah Keyz!.

because they dont want you leaving dungeons for bgs, or vice versa.

This is essentially the answer. We've made changes in the past to Battleground queuing specifically to try and dissuade players from wanting to leave a match before it ends. Getting a Battleground going with even numbers on both sides is a delicate balance and we don't want to incentivize players to leave. To a lesser extent, the same is true for leaving dungeons early.

We don't want to encourage you to queue hop between PvE and PvP content as time allows. If you were able to queue for Battlegrounds and dungeons at the same time, chances are you'd be leaving one or the other early and repeat this behavior as you see fit.

I believe you'll see queue times for Battlegrounds balance a bit once the Dungeon Finder feature isn't quite the "new toy" that it is now. You'll also see a significant change in game play opportunities once the rated Battleground system is implemented in Cataclysm.

For now though, given the average wait times for Battlegrounds and dungeons, coupled with the average run times for each dungeon or Battleground, we feel the majority of players are best served by being allowed only to queue for one system at a time.

How about allowing us to queue for both but once you enter one it takes you out of the queue for the other?

When I play late at night I have no way of knowing if my AV or Isle or even EOTS will ever queue. Sometimes hours later it hasn't. I have no way to know how many people are queued so I don't know when to give up and try a dungeon instead. Standing around Dalaran for hours (This is not an exaggeration if you can check my queue times) is not fun :P

I'm not sure I understand how that would help. You're saying you want to queue for a couple of Battlegrounds just in case they pop, but be automatically removed from those queues whenever accepting a dungeon run?

Are there reasons the suggestions offered in this thread are not feasible?

We have discussed this "automatic remove from all queues" idea when entering a dungeon or Battleground in the past and will continue the discussion now that we've implemented the Dungeon Finder.

They want to queue for everything at once, since they don't know which will pop first.

Under the current system you can only queue for one. If you picked the slow one you're SOL. Queuing (sp?) for all of them maximizes your chances of getting into a group for SOMETHING faster, as opposed to only getting to pick one and sitting around for 30min.

And to stop the leaving BGs for dungeons problem you mentioned, they want to be pulled from all other queues after they've accepted one.

I thought it was pretty clear, myself.

My point was that it was insinuated that some players want to run dungeons or other Battlegrounds while they wait in the longer Battleground queues. I didn't understand the point of the post I quoted for this reason. It seemed like the player was saying he/she wanted to do other things while waiting for what could be a long AV/EotS/IoC queue, but the solution was to auto-remove him/her from those queues simply for joining a different dungeon or Battleground. That would defeat the purpose since it would not be possible to run anything while waiting in the longer queue.
