Rise in account hackings?

I havent ever had my account hacked before (been playing since original release), and I just recently had it hacked. I use the internet with firefox and noscript, have a firewall, and am behind a router with its own firewall, and dont click dumb links that I dont recognize or give my account information out. I also semi-regularly scan my computer for trojans/malware, even after I got hacked, and still havent found anything resembling a keylogger (I scan with trend micro's AV software and spybot S&D). I even scanned with WoW open in case the program only opens when WoW is open. I have no real clue on how they got my account information. The ONLY thing I might have messed up is that my battle.net account and real email address (both are linked together) used a similar password... is that a viable way for them to get into the account?

Anyway, I just found it interesting that there are apparently SO MANY account hacks just recently.

I was also wondering just how long it takes blizzard to respond to these things... since I have had my ticket open for about 24 hours now. This is drastically higher than the times of just 6 months-1 year ago... when I was playing then it was MAYBE an hour to get a response.

yes there is, but DONT bother saying this on the forums..all the dumb fanbois will swear it's all normal...Yes, because it's NORMAL to wait 2 weeks for a ticket to get answered...You think all these people are having issues with the patch? lol.

I can understand with your very limited view, Crimsonjoy, how you may believe so, but you'd be incorrect. It would be best not to spread misinformation when you do not have access to factual information. It also does not help to exaggerate wait times.

It is true, queue times are rather high at the moment, many of the issues caused during the first couple of days of 3.3 implementation are taking a little while to fully resolve which is impacting overall response times.

There has not been a significant increase in the number of compromised accounts received.

This forum in particular receives the majority of compromise reports/complaints/questions so depending on when you come here it may look like there has been a dramatic increase in the number of compromises. There truly haven't.

There has only been an increase in resolution times due to several factors. We are working to reduce all queue times and hope to have them back to normal as quickly as possible.

Although queue times fluctuate the current estimate for a resolution, from start to finish would be around 12 days.

Yes, I'm aware that's what people are saying, but it's really hard to believe that the reason you guys are experience such a high amount of volume of tickets/calls is people getting stuck... :)

Who said it was stucks? That was only one issue that was experienced the day of the patch. You also had an issue with Halls of Reflection disconnecting people when going up the ramp to loot the final chest. So there you have not only a stuck character in many cases but also a looting issue that must be investigated.

You had an issue where loot that was traded between party members from different realms seemingly disappeared.

There are the standard issues that happen during every patch where people forget that their addons are likely out of date and can cause a number of issues.

Don't judge people when they claim they work in a certain field.

I believe Thunderwulf was referring to the fact that a number of people who has been compromised and also state that they are experts in computer security and claim to work in IT which they sometimes hold out in front of them as proof that they are fail proof.

Please everyone, stop with the combative posts. I will simply delete posts and lost the thread if it continues.
