I've been hacked

I found out last night that Blizzard allowed an expired trail account to be merged with my battlenet account, allowing that person unfettered access to my account with his own password.

Thanks Blizz!

Now, this idiot still has access that I can't stop. Blizz does not have 24/7 tech support and GM's take days to get back to you, so what could have been avoided last night, when it started happened while I was asleep. 8 characters deleted, 3 of which were level 80. several thousand gold stolen, mats worth several thousand gold.

When I awoke at 530 and logged on, the hacker was on my reaming level 80 hunter, skinning. The only way to keep him out is for me to stay logged in and watch for him to try and log in himself.

At the rate Blizz GM's and tech support respond, I'll have to sit here in front of my computer for the next 3 days.

Thanks Blizz!

Q u o t e:

It took the young lady 10 min to delete the hacker from my account this morning after the damage was done, yet if Blizz had 24/7 tech support, the damage could have been avoided all together last night..

To delete the hacker? Do you mean there was an authenticator placed on your account, Teufulhunden? Yes, if we have proper verification we can remove an authenticator if we can verify that it was maliciously added to the account. I'm not certain what 24/7 tech support would have to do with it as the only department that could assist with such an issue is our Billing and Account Services department.

In either case 24/7 support would likely not have prevented the damage that was caused as it takes very little time once the account is accessed for characters to be stripped. It is also unlikely that the Game Master department would have been able to assist you as your petition seemed to request. We can only recommend security measures.

It is important to note that our systems are secure so if there was a breach it would have had to come from your end. Do you use the same password for multiple applications such as your e-mail address?

Not all programs will detect all types of keyloggers or other malicious program, we go over multiple detection methods in the following thread.

A Game Master will address the petitions you submitted as quickly as possible and will forward your case for further investigation.

Good luck to you.
