I'm just curious as to why. No jerking chains, no complaining that the game is 'getting too easy', just really curious, as I'm fairly new to the game and haven't done any Winter's Veil stuff ever.

For players who weren't there when this gift was given out, it's, well, kind of hard to get. We have plans to fix this in the future but they weren't implemented in time for this year's event.

Great Father Winter doesn't come until you go to sleep... not that I think you should go to sleep for a couple weeks, but either way, asking won't get answers on this one.
