question about patch notes

For 4.1 or whatever they are calling it. When it says "____ has a new spell effect" does that mean it will look different (Graphically) or the spell itself will change completely or both?

It just means that the animation associated with the spell being cast or active has changed.

For example, the current spell effect for Holy Word: Sanctuary looks very similar to certain harmful AoE ground spells cast by bosses and other mobs. In 4.1, we're changing that effect to make it easier for players to tell when they're standing in a Holy priest's beneficial AoE and when they're standing in "fire." (The new effect is currently bugged on the PTR, though. It's displaying much smaller than intended.)

If a spell or ability has been changed otherwise, it'll be noted separately. :)
