Emberstorm and Whirlwind Battlegroup

Blizzard Post
Greetings all,

As you can imagine we are very much aware of the issues with these battlegroups. Our Technicians are looking into the cause of the issue and we hope to have it resolved as quickly as possible.

Please note that all other posts created on this subject will be deleted or locked. Inappropriate commentary will not be tolerated and will result in the temporary or permanent removal of your posting privileges.

We understand your frustration and will endeavor to provide what updates we can as they become available.

The Game Master department is unable to award compensation for any unexpected downtime nor are we liaisons to those who would make such decisions. If compensation is granted it will be done so after the issue has been resolved. If you wish to request such compensation please post in the Suggestion forum where your request can be reviewed.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Note: If you do not wish to sift through the entire thread and simply jump to the blue responses you just need to click on the Blizz tag located in the upper right corner of this post.

we love you vrak but you deleted our other main thread ;_;

I know, Haiz, that was an error. That is why I decided to create one for that purpose.

I'm working on finding out what happened and getting an update for you guys.

Please keep the conversation civil and that will go a long way in allowing me to hunt down some information.

Here's how you fix this crap, people.

File a report with the BBB.

Either they fix it, or they get fined.

I'm going to go draft a report now. 3 or 4 times in 24 hours is ridiculous. Fix it right the first time, it isn't tough.

You are incorrect, Sahare, the BBB is a civil organization that does not have the power to fine anyone.

could i request that we get a real answer to what is going on rather then just a we are aware and working on it blue post?

I will pass along the information that is available to me, Rollan.

Q u o t e:
Not a blue post in there (except the sticky) that I've seen.

Did you actually read the sticky, Sicarius?

Q u o t e:
It still has an effect.

Perhaps, but it has no direct power over businesses. In fact our rating is usually fairly high as we try to rectify situations whenever possible.

I understand that there may not always be a perfect ETA, but I think the community would really appreciate some communication even if it's incomplete - something as simple as "the problem is X and it will likely take at least Y time to resolve but could be longer".

As soon as I have any information, Mohc, I will be certain to pass it along. If I find out the overall cause of why this happened I will pass that along as well.

Instead of an update on the servers how about updating the servers themselves? You know, put our money to some good use that will help us, the players.

I am sorry, Bloodscent, but you speak of what you know nothing about. We have some of the best hardware in the business, there is nothing that needs to be upgraded currently.

So far this appears to be related to yesterdays outage but we don't have any real details as of yet. Unless you are working at the datacenter or are otherwise directly involved I'd prefer we didn't guess or backseat engineer.

The post count on this thread has been lifted for now so this thread should be good for awhile. As with yesterday I am perfectly fine with much of the off topic conversation or even on topic conversation that takes place here.

Please remember to remain civil to each other and within the bounds of the Code of Conduct (i.e. no inappropriate language or context).

I'll see who I can poke for more information.

Can we guarentee this? Once you left last nigth they got all SRS BIZNIZ on us and starts deleting posts and locking our thread. It was teh failz

I believe several of the posts ventured into more taboo areas, Neriah, I think that is why things got all Srs. I am sorry for that though, I think as long as everyone can remain within the bounds of the CoC we'll be fine while we wait for updates.

Something about "Blizzard using the latest technology"

You'd think they would have power back-ups.....

That has nothing to do with a simple loss of power, Veretus, I don't have many details but I know that much.

I'm actually curious as to what our Blue friend thinks on the idea; and, kind of hoping I'm not violating some rule for even mentioning another forum in this one (the link leads to the pet post.)

It sounds like an interesting and possibly adorable pet, Cabilis, I think some would take the QQ bit to be insulting though. :) Not to mention I think we would rather not tie receiving a pet to a negative. :)

I get the feeling they are waiting for a part to be shipped and are just trying to patch things up till it arrives.

No, the parts that were required yesterday were on site. Some of the complications from yesterdays issue resurfaced. That is what they are working on at the moment I believe.

Actually disregard the last few posts. Vrak a bit off topic, but what are your plans for Thanksgiving :D?

I'll be here actually. I'm working all day Thanksgiving.

I don't have an update but the buzz is I may get one fairly soon.

Aw that's not cool :( Unless you enjoy it <_<

Do you guys have parties :O?

I love my job, and we all sacrifice at least one holiday. This year I'll be off on X-mas and work Thanksgiving. We will have food brought in though, everything in the area is closed that day.

Q u o t e:
Pie or Cake?!

I'll probably regret it but I'm hoping for both. :D
Q u o t e:

I just hope blizzard comps us for all the lost time.

Though the Game Master department is not directly involved in such decisions, Tyraria, from what I understand there is going to be a discussion about it.

I can say with almost absolute certainty that Free Character Moves will not be made available due to this issue. Our goal is to resolve the overall issue which is not an impossible task.
Q u o t e:

Vrak, got a question for you. i've heard rumors that all the issues are being caused by a hacker. i know, long shot. any input on it?

Absolutely false, Detrimental. This is a technical issue and has nothing to do with a hacker.

just another reason for me to quit this game the support is not good and we wont get compensation for this down time... we never do ugh

You may want to visit your Account Management page, Akuyim. Odds are good you'll find several days of credit applied to your account.

We do provide compensation for extended unexpected downtime. It simply isn't determined until after the issue is resolved. If compensation is provided because of this it will likely be added to your account although it is possible that a post will be made by one of our Community Managers in the General Discussion forum.

ok so technical issues.... why did we not get informed what the actual probelm was yesterday (and no "power issues" is not an acceptable answer) and why are u (im sure under instruction not to) not able to inform us what is going on today?

Frankly, Æons, because that is not information that was provided to me nor is it truly necessary for me to do my job. Information on our systems and hardware is rarely released.

We provide what information we can. The information I provided yesterday on the issue is what I was able to gather from snippets of conversations I had. I'm not entirely tech savvy so a complex technical answer is not going to be coming from me. :)

Were this any other company, someone on your end would be raising hell. Instead you let it happen over and over with little sign that it bothers you or your employers.

Who says they are not, Murannan? You seem to be making a number of assumptions with absolutely no way of knowing if you are even remotely correct. The very thought that we do not care when so many players are inconvenienced in this manner is ludicrous.

Q u o t e:
Oh and, have the almighty tech gods given any updates or such ?

Thus far, nothing I can pass on and no ETA as of yet.

If anyone missed it there is a post in the Service Status forum that should be updated as well when we receive more information.

Y'know, if a blue would just come in and say something like ''Everything is still broken, come back in 2 hours.", I'd be happy and sane, and would be able to go play something else without having to try to log in every 15 mins to see if the servers are back up.

Ok, I'll give it a try.

We are still addressing the issue but thus far have been unsuccessful in bringing the realms back online. We do not currently have an ETA but if you would like to check back in at a later time (i.e. however long you are comfortable with) and see if this has been resolved we will update the first post in this thread when the situation has changed.
Q u o t e:

Vrak won't give a suggestion on a good group / band to listen too = ( I am sad now...

I have fairly eclectic tastes in music but I haven't purchased anything new lately.

Vrak, what are you hoping you get for Christmas?

Be honest!

Hmm, a quality food processor and a high quality chef's knife and a comforter.

Q u o t e:

Do they let you play wow when you reply to the forums?

I usually play on my lunch, but no. I'm usually a bit too busy to play and post. :D
Q u o t e:

Will there be an extended Pilgims Bounty for us on these affected battlegroups because i have lost almost 2 day of avaible play time for the event and achevment an now probberly willn't get it.

I'm afraid I simply don't know, Setcrashers. Your concerns have been noted though.
Q u o t e:

Vrak is there anything that we as players could look for when a server is becoming unstable?

We plan to implement a latency reporting feature which should help us track and address latency and stability issues better. It is currently listed in the 3.3 patch notes on the Test Realm.

my 25 man raid downed koralon in voa and literaly right after i click the body to look at loot everyone started running in place.
is it possible to have raid lock reset since i lost the loot from koralon and the other two bosses for the week due to this?

That I do not know. If there was a boss kill it may be possible to verify that and what dropped and distribute the look accordingly. Have the group leader or Master Looter submit a petition and it can be looked into.
Q u o t e:

Woot! Servers up! =D

They are not official up yet guys, the issue is still being worked on.

Judging from this statement.... Vrak do you like to cook ¬_¬

If so, what's this best thing you can cook up! (and mail to me kkthnx ;3 )

Yes, I almost became a chef but I really can't stand the heat of a restaurant kitchen. I experiment a bit but I think the thing I made recently that I thought turned out really well was an Eggplant Parmesan.

Looks like the realms are coming back online, folks, this is still tentative but we are hopeful that the overall issue has been resolved. Our Technicians continue to monitor the situation.

So, now that a basic solution atleast has been hammered out... Did they give you any basic info as to what was the root cause of the calamity?

Nothing yet. I believe it was related to yesterdays outage. One of our Community Managers received a lot more information then I have had available to me so for those of you who may not have seen it his post is linked below.

Alrighty folks, thank you all so very much for your patience.

Here is the latest news....

Q u o t e:
We have temporarily restored connection to realms on the Emberstorm and Whirlwind battlegroups, however, we are still investigating the cause of the recent issues affecting these realms with our third-party operator. Please be aware that connection to these realms may be intermittently interrupted while we work to resolve the root of the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your continued patience."

Should we be concerned about data loss on these servers or is this only a power/connectivity issue?

Thank you for any official response on this.

While there is always a very slim possibility something didn't get a chance to save immediately prior to an ungraceful exit, overall - no, should be fine.

The way WoW saves is very very often so roll-backs are extremely rare.

Can we expect to have a stable game play for tonight ? This server crashes need to be stopped as they hinder Progression.

If you need to bring down the servers to work on the issues please do so at an earlier time, not half way through the night when most of the comunity is on.

When will we know if any compensations for this downtime will be recieved, this is the least you can do for the terrible, mediocre service you have been providing the past two days.

Compensation isn't decided by the Game Master Department, Impirium - that I cannot tell you at this time.

As far as what will happen this evening, none of the outages the last 2 days have been intentional. They've been power and connectivity related and therefore unforeseeable.
