I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in so please help me out if this is the case.

Yesterday i got an in-game mail message saying to visit the site <removed>. It said to claim some prize there. I was skeptical so i went to the site which had to same log in screen as the account management log in screen. Still skeptical, i opened up the actually account management log in and it turns out that this "fake" site had the log in button moved down about a fourth of an inch. Because of this, i didn't enter my account information.

Basically though, i'm just wondering if you think that just by visiting the site, i could have endangered my computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also, it has been over 24 hours and nothing out of the ordinary has happened in case that means anything.

I just got the ingame mail also. If anyone fell for it you are an idiot. All blizzard ingame mail has a signature on it so you know it is real. Learn to read the system messages that you get spammed with every time you log in. They are always going on about how not to fall for these scams. Don't be a statistic use common sense and your account will be safe.

While perhaps partially true, this is too harsh, Crimson.

We do player education at every opportunity, but there are still those that don't realize nefarious individuals are out to scam them out of their account information - their biggest flaw is they are simply too trusting.

I'd love every player to take the opportunity to approach everyone they know, friends, family, guildmates and discuss this topic, direct them here for more information if needed - but get the word out for folks to scan their systems and beware of emails both ingame and out. Wow accounts aren't the only target of these theives, they'll happily latch onto credit card, banking or personal information as well.
