i have a separate account that is eligible for the 7 free days offer but when i click "Claim 7 free days" on the battle.net website it takes me to a 404 error. the link in my email just takes me to account management where it doesnt say anything about 7 free days

For inactive accounts, yes.

Pays to always double-check though. If you look in the internal email header of that email - you should see it actually came from us.
