Banned for a false reason.

Long story short.
My friend got permanently banned because blizzard thought he bought/sold gold. (Exploitation of the wow economy) Truth: Did he really do it? nope. I wouldn't post this if he did. No proofs either.

EDiT:

(Sorry this is a pretty long post, but here's the story)

One day, my friend and I were logging on to raid. When he logged on, it said his account was permanently banned.
At first, he started freaking out and he e-mailed wowaccountadmin/wowgm/support - @blizzard.com asking why he got banned. Of course, he didn't get a response. So I ticketed and e-mailed the wowgm asking why he got banned.
I know my friend well. He never broke a rule in the game. The worst thing we ever do is spam. I knew this wasn't a big deal and assumed he would get his account back.
A few days later, he got an e-mail back from the wow account admins. It said he was banned because he was involved with the "exploitation of the economy". My friend and I were laughing and looking at each other like what the hell? We looked up what that actually meant and it said buying or selling gold or using power/leveling bots. This got us confused. He's never done anything like that.
He also got an e-mail from the gm I talked to saying his account is in danger and they reset his password. They also suggested him to call BILLING-SUPPORT line to recover his account.
So, he e-mailed the admins back claiming he's never used power leveling bots or bought nor sold any gold. I know this myself because I play wow next to him.
The next day he received a response from the admins. It looked like a vague copy/paste answer. It said something about blahblah we re investigated blahblah this account is closed forever. He got very frustrated and replied to them and stated CLEARLY he's never done such a thing. He also stated he's been hack about 3-4 times and character got deleted and all our guild bank items/gold were stolen. Without a surprise, they gave him the SAME copy/paste response! yay!
He also called the BILLING-SUPPORT to recover his password and asked about his banned account. They simply said "We don't deal with accounts". Okay, why don't you suggest us more false sources blizzard.

For additional information, we have been hacked about three times 2-3 months ago. We also bought authenticators. A month after we got hacked, we both received double the items and gold in our guild bank and in our bags. And yes. We sold most of those items to the auction house and made bank. We didn't really need all this gold since we only need gold for repairs, so we decided to lend a handful to a couple friends who have been BEGGING for some gold. Yes, we sent them gold from our level 1 bank characters.
If this got him banned, well, I didn't know giving your friends free gold was against the rules. This might be the only thing that might be CLOSEST to "selling" gold, but it's not actually doing it.

But yes, we've been trying to get his account back for some time now. It's very aggravating as well. He's got the same exact response from [email protected] three times and gave up. This is ridiculous. It's something to complain about. Yes QQ or whatever.

Long story short, you are not aware of all the facts, Peacha.
Q u o t e:

I heard blizzard permanently bans accounts that haven't been touched for months from this reason.
I laughed.

I heard if you venture out at midnight with a pillow case and a stick and call "snipe snipe" you can catch a rare and wondrous creature.

Perhaps that is just some silly rumour though.
Q u o t e:

I'm also surprised blizzard account admins don't have a phone line.
They're too scared to one-and-one talk to their customers who pay for their games.
(No, I don't mean type or "online chat")

No, they aren't frightened of one on one conversations, Peacha. They simply spend their time actively investigating cases and don't have time for such irrelevant conversations. Nothing anyone can say will make evidence appear or disappear and they do not provide detailed explanations regarding our investigation process. In essence, anything that needs to be said can be through an e-mail. This allows them to do their job.
Q u o t e:

We contacted many game masters through e-mails and tickets. Yup, they lied to us.
They suggested we should call billing-support and ask about the account. They said they can't do anything about it. And you gotta LOVE the same automatic replies.

How is directing you to the correct location lying? The Game Master staff is unable to assist with account penalties. You need to contact Account Administration. If there is an issue that Billing needs to assist with you need to contact Billing.

Q u o t e:
Lol @ blizzard customer service. Oh yeah, an account admin also said I can post a form about this matter. If I get banned (lol again), you will guys know haha.

I thought it was your friend who had their account closed, Peacha? What do you mean again?

Now if you want to provide me with the name and realm of a character on the account in question i would be delighted to look into this matter. I may be unable to provide you with any additional information but I'll check it out and let you know.

Ah, yes.

These matters are investigated in great detail, actually. In addition, I take an extremely dim view of feigned ignorance.

You are, after all, in a unique position to know precisely why events proceeded as they did, and why his emails have received the response that they did.

In otherwords, The OP sold or traded his account and got screwed in doing so. Now he is trying to BS his way in getting it back.

Seen it a million times. And I would say the MAJORITY of "hacked" accounts are really accounts people try trading or selling and they end up getting recalled.

Not gona post a link or anything but the most popular site that people try to trade/sell WoW accounts on, gets allmost a 1000 new posts per minute.

It's probably best to keep speculation to a minimum. Some issues are more complex or unusual than they appear.

Also, while I prefer to stray away from generalizations, the majority of account compromises likely result from phishing and keylogging, rather than some more circuitous nefariousness.

Hi, i'm not the person who made this thread but I have a similar problem. my account was hacked and shortly after that banned. I got 2 emails, one saying 72 hours and one saying perminant. the character is named Kipka, on lightninghoof server.

I've sent multiple emails, but received no response, and have spent the last nearly 90 minutes on hold on the phone. What is up with this?

I'm sorry to hear that your account might have been compromised, but it is likely that yours is a situation rather dissimilar from the one covered herein.

Regardless, it is best to create a new thread when inquiring about a situation regarding one's account, rather than posting in an existing thread. I realize that this may seem counter-intuitive to the fashion in which forum etiquette generally runs, so I understand why there may have been some confusion.

If you've contacted our Account Administration staff, then you're on the right track, but it can take some time to receive a response. This would be a good time to review the following threads and secure the system you play World of Warcraft from:
