Any status updates? I know its rare for them to do so. However, It's been 1.5hrs since most of the realms went down. It would be nice to have a ballpark figure of when service will be restored.

It appears that the affected database experienced a complete power failure. Power has been restored and we are currently working to reboot these realms and bring them back online.

Any more updates on the reboots good sir?

The power outage resulted in a subsequent network issue which our database administrators are currently troubleshooting.

A complete power failure?
Not even a UPS system in place? If not, very bad planning and not thinking too much of your customers.

All you need is a UPS system that has, at the very least, enough battery power to shut the realms down. They have them now that once there is a power outage, they automatically start shutting down the servers. I rather get abruptly booted from the server knowing that the server is shutting down as opposed to what happened tonight.

I for one can not wait for the post to tell the realm players affected that data has been corrupted and that we have to go to a previous backup. Given if you have no UPS in place, the backups are going to be probably not to great either.

Yes I did alot of gaming today so I will definately not be happy with a previous restore.

Hope you take the time to come up with a customer service spin on what has happened today. Make sure you add "thank you for your patience" and maybe throw in a "thank you for your understanding" and maybe a sorry at the beginning and then again at the end of the spin.

Very disappointed in seeing this happen given today's technology and past lessons apparently not learned.

Unfortunately, part of the reason for the delay was the result of a bad UPS. The realms are down as power is currently being moved over to a new UPS.

Im assuming no one is working on the issue. It's more likely that the IT staff are just going to wait till they come in to perform the scheduled system maintenance. I work for a major financial institution. There are contingency plans in place for all sorts of scenerio's including power outages. Servers still being offline 6 hours later because of a simple power outage is either due to incompetence, or apethy. I'm guessing the IT staff has their alarms set for approx 4 hours from now and are at home sleeping as we speak.

I can only assure you that folks are at the database right now working to resolve this issue. The updates I've been able to provide in this thread are coming from them, however, their primary focus is to restore access to these realms.

Thank you Zarhym
Any news now is welcomed....Drink more coffee...and back to work

I'm at home and far from a coffee stage. I'm watching Conan and checking in periodically with a phone next to me in case any emergency calls come in. ;p
