First ability balanced around 1 v 1?

Just wondering why to be honest. I play a ret and do see how a baddie can use lawl "3 health bars" to kill someone. Yet on a 20 minute CD I never really thought of it as a game breaking issue. Let alone the fact that it cannot be used in arena.

Now before some idiot comes in here trying to say Im butthurt about a possible LOH change, I am really not.
What I find extremely laughable is the arguement of "the game is not balanced around 1 versus 1". Well it seems as though Paladins have now breached that arguement as this nerf is clearly in regards to 1 on 1 PvP.

Just wondering why Blue. Also would love to know if other abilities are getting nerfed for such a purpose IE too strong in a 1 on 1 situtation.

So let's imagine for a moment you had Power Word: Kill as a class ability. This ability would strike another character dead instantly. It can't be used on creatures and it can't be used in Arena. Do you think such an ability would be balanced, fair or fun? Because that's how some of these "It doesn't matter if it can't be used in Arena" arguments read.

Q u o t e:
The 50k damage and power word kill analogies are so false.

I don't actually mind the nerf, but comparing a heal to a damage dealing ability is just crazy. You intentionally design heals to be more powerful than damaging abilities.

I've been healed by swiftmend for 12,000 in arena before. Later that day in a bg, i had a rogue on me and LoH'd myself for 13,000.

How is that remotely comparable to instadeath abilities?

They're not comparable. I'm taking a pot shot at the "It only matters if I can use it in Arena" argument, because I find that weak.

An instant kill ability would be offensive, and uncounterable.

LoH is a defensive ability, and can easily be countered considering the Paladin LoHing himself could have crappy gear... or is a bad player... or both... and I'd put my money on both, considering that most skilled players and/or players who have all the gear they need rarely BG anymore.

Then argue that it's balanced because it can be countered. Don't argue that balance is irrelevant since it's only a 1 v 1 issue (which, for the record, we never said). :)
