Tanks != "Every spec of every class"

We don't feel there is a need for it? We aimed to make sure that every class had something to gain from the Quel'Delar series, but that doesn't mean every spec of every class. Could a tank use the one handed dps version of Quel'Delar? Yes, it may give them more threat. Is this ideal for surviving while tanking? No, but there are other items available for that.

Pardon? I find it hard to equate "every spec of every class" with the critical component that every group has to have to succeed (i.e. a tank).

My sympathies to elemental shaman or balance druids not getting their own optimal versions, but this is hardly the same.

A tank isn't a niche SPEC. A tank is a mandatory ROLE that every group requires to succeed.

By the logic above, you might as well leave out the healer or DPS versions of the sword since they're just 'specs'.

Sorry to come across as rude, but this logic makes no sense to me.

We're not asking for different versions with a higher focus on parry or block as suits different tanks. We want a version. Period.

This is especially frustrating when, as a tank, I'm not going to have a hard time even getting the item since I'll AUTOMATICALLY be rolling on the item as an OFFSPEC. Every time.

EDIT: I don't know much about DK tanks, so if these weapons are good for you, my apologies. My understanding for druids is that this weapon works okay for tanking but isn't really that good (see ilvl 232 Thunderstrike, etc).

The main focus for the Quel'Delar was for it to fit for dps specs. Yes, this excludes tanks but if we added it for tanks then it would probably lead to tailoring for other specs like boomkin (sorry, just an example, not meaning to pick on you) and leads to bloating the rewards more and more than they already are.

Based on my experiences too, a weapon for a warrior or paladin tank isn't quite as much of a lifeblood as it is for dps classes. Try swapping weapons around randomly some time and you will find that almost nobody will notice as long as you stay defense capped and put out good threat.

Of note: Internally we have made a change that removes the mp5 from the main hand mace and changed that to haste to match the sword to make it more dps-worthy.

Also, doesn't this contradict what was posted on the information page about Quel'Delar?

Is DPS several different play styles?

It seems that you advertised one thing, then provided a completely different thing.

Again, I apologize if I sound sharp or whiny.

That was written before the stats and everything were finalized for one thing, but "play styles" is pretty general and yes, I would consider a hunter play style to be pretty different from a mage or death knight.

Excuse me, Bornakk, sir?

Wouldn't it just have been easier to turn the caster sword into a caster dagger and left the mace as it was? Also, why not merge the agi two-handers into one polearm for the two specs that'll use it, and then just turn the other sword into a tanking weapon? Or is there an unseen programming problem that prevented that from happening? o_o;

...more importantly, how many people brought this up before me? <_<;;

We wanted as many classes as possible to have the sword graphic. So since hunters can use swords they get an agi sword. The maces are there to make sure we hit the classes who can't use swords.
