Today in a reg ToC 10 there was a Dk tank who was fine up until the last boss. After downing a boss The Grinder dropped which is pretty much the main reason i went in there in the first place. Of course he knew this. After i won the roll, he took the weapon even though he was the lowest roller. When i tried to wisper him, it said i was being ignored. After talking to a few people, including others in the raid, it turns out he has already ninja'ed plenty of things before, such as the Reins of the Great War Mammoth out of VoA. His last guild even kicked him out for ninja'ing items in a guild run. Of course when i learned about this it was too late. I am hoping that the item that he can't use as a mainspec anyway will at least be taken away from him. He needs to learn a lesson at some point because this is just getting out of hand. His name is <not relevant> and if you could in anyway teach him what he is doing is wrong then please do. I am pretty sure he took it for the main reason because it was the 1 drop in there i was looking for. Thank you

I am sorry, Col. Unless the loot rules were explicitly spelled out in chat prior, Master Looters have a great deal of leeway in what they do with the permissions the group has allowed them to have under that loot type.

We also do not call players out on the forum.

Thanks.

Well he said Mainspec first offspec second if that counts for anything. It can't hurt to try can it?

If you think the terms were specific enough for this to qualify as a scam, we can look into the matter, yes.

It's usually best to just not PUG with Master Looter as a type, and check around a bit on who you are raiding with. I'd also recommend putting anyone like this on a permanent /ignore just as a reminder not to have any dealings with them in the future.

This is not true, Kyeema - however, these are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

I'm saying that if something rises to the level of being able to be considered a scam, we will investigate.

The way to protect yourself from this is not to PUG with Master Looter as the loot option.

And yes, many groups DO use other options - you also are always more than welcome to run your own group as well, or decline to participate in one if you find that is the case and they do not wish to change it.

The new looting types upcoming should also go quite a way in helping with this, but you do have considerable power in your own hands to totally avoid this circumstance. I know it's maddening, it's frustrating, and it's downright reprehensible - but it's not always against the rules.

By it's very nature - that loot type is giving the Master Looter free will on what and how they distribute.

That is what it's for. If specifics are spelled out, mutually agreed to we can SOMETIMES process these as a scam, but that's not necessarily as easy to prove as it sounds.

It is just so much easier to use more appropriate types that are already built-in to give you those safeguards - and hopefully will get even better soon with the newer loot-type enhancements.
