O-kay; I was looking through my vanity pets to summon my Great Horned Owl *hugs his plushie of one* when a thought occured to me.

Why can't vanity pets give you small buffs to your toon, the raptors/cats give dps buffs; the owls give spirt/int buffs, bears give armor/defense buffs; it will be more cooler then the hundreds of pets just sleeping in there capsules.

I know the "Vanity" part of it but being able to switch to a cat or a raptor (coming from a DPS) during a quest or a raid to boost your dps if your priest or pally (or whatever) is out of mana and you need that last bit of dps to down a boss; that can be helpful. It can scale to your level so even non-raiders or lower level players can get a small buff.

Think about it or expand upon it; thank you for your time. ^^

We enjoy adding things into the game that just add flavor and aren't part of any min-maxing discussions. The non-combat pets are one of these things and so are things like titles. As soon as we put some stats on them the purpose changes entirely and anything without the ideal stats becomes "worthless". Imagine if the cockroaches had the best stats and you see 25 of them in a raid... kinda weird.
