Shamans getting talent reset?

Blizzard said that, if a class sees a major change in its talent tree, that class will also see a refund in talent points.

Changing Fire Nova Totem is a large change to almost all pvp elemental and enhancement shamans.

Not refunding talant points, with the reason of, it is not a major change is a sign of ignorance or another true example of planned class imbalance.

Refunding talents generally isn't something we do as a courtesy. Meaning, if we had our way, we would never refund talents. We only do it when the data would get seriously jacked up by not doing so. For example, you may still have points in a talent that no longer exists or something similar.

As to why we don't like to refund talents, part of it is avoiding the expectation that regular talent refunds are something that happens often. Another part is that while it may be exciting for very active players to get a talent refund, it can actually be a major bummer for the alt you play seldomly or even the player who only logs on every few weeks. Now you feel like you have to do a lot of research and action bar management before you can even jump in and start playing again.

It's quite likely everyone will get a talent refund when the Cataclysm data changes go in (which if history holds, will actually occur before the Cataclysm box is available at retail). I wouldn't expect any before then.

So on the subject on shamans getting a talent reset a simple no would have sufficed. Everything else is trolling.

I would continue on how exactly said above posts violates said TOS we all agree when we post said forum but people get all hot and bothered when the simple peon tells the overseer that he is whipping them wrong.

I'd say the fact that several players responded that they got something from my long explanation probably pushes it out of the realm of trolling. Even then, we're pretty tolerant about non-sequiters or the occasional silly comment. You often have to be a real jerk before you actually suffer any (relatively not scary) disciplinary action on these forums.

I'm going to read between the lines and assume that you are upset about shamans for some reason and really want me to talk about that issue instead of the issue of talent respecs. However, I hope you understand the reasons for why I can't allow players to have the ultimate decision over which issues I choose to address with my relatively limited time.

How about hooking Shaman's up with a talent respec after making every spec lackluster and not competitive? Elemental PvE damage...., I can't STAND the DW Enhancement I've been cornered into since you've made 2H completely unusable... and resto is just... resto. Sure Enh and Ele have their place on gimmick comps(because of BLust/Dogs), but it's just sooooo lackluster.

It sounds like you are looking for a new class. A talent refund isn't going to make two-handed Enhance viable for you. There are also players who want shaman to be a viable tank class again. With a player base as large as ours, it's easy to find players who are champions for just about anything. We can't make everyone happy so we try to make the decisions we think are best for the game. Striking a mix between two-handed users and dual-wield users is one of those.
