Question re. Mr. Chilly and inactive account

This may be the wrong place to ask this but I wasn't sure where I should post it.

I have a friend who has a WoW account but hasn't been playing since the start of the semester because he's been too busy with school. He wants the penguin pet for the battle.net upgrade, but he doesn't want to pay for a month of game time that he won't really use.

So my question is, can he merge his WoW account to his battle.net account now without reactivating it first, and if he does will he have the pet when he reactivates his account?

Your friend will be able to merge his inactive account with a Battle.net account; however, I believe he will need to log in to retrieve his penguin pet.

Q u o t e:

Thanks for the answer, but maybe my question was a little unclear (or I'm just misunderstanding your answer, not sure which).

He'll have to log in to get his pet, but if he merges now but can't reactivate his account until, say, mid-December, if he waits until then to reactivate will he still get the pet?

As long as the account is merged before the deadline, the pet should be made available once the character has been logged in for the first time, Araq -- even if the account is currently inactive. This will also include new characters created after the deadline.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
