Blue gems from +250 stat to +150 and the Green gems from +150 to +100. Seems a little excessive and pointless to me but oh well.

Hey all,

Just to clarify, we recently pushed a hotfix with the changes you are seeing, and this change will be noted in today's Hotfix Notes which will go live soon™.

We made the decision to reduce the stats granted by Legion gems to the following:

  • Rare gems reduced from +250 stats to +150 stats
  • Uncommon gems reduced from +150 stats to +100 stats

Thus far into Legion, gems have not been in the same place as they have been in previous expansions. They were a bit too powerful and this was not the intent, design-wise. We still see sockets as valuable, and they will continue to be so, but prior to this change there has been too much difference between a piece of gear having a socket vs. not having a socket.

This change should address that.

what the !@#$?

its hard enough to get ANY blue gems as it is. why nerf them?

I smashed 2 entire stacks of leystone, and one stack of felstone and didnt even get a damn blue!! now if i DO manage to get one...its barely an upgrade? wtf...

Its bad enough ore is so hard to get...
its bad enough gems are so rare from the already rare ore...
Now ya wanna make them weaker....

Bliz hates professions. its that simple...

Don't mass prospect.

Seems buggy.

There is a known issue with mass prospecting that sometimes results in less gems than intended. A fix for this is in the works and will be pushed live when it's ready.

...

The performance difference between 100 and 150 in the current stat meta is almost nonexistent.

the same was true about 150 vs 250, but people still bought the blue for ridiculous prices. People want the best, and the best are still just as hard to make, so they'll still sell for ridiculous prices. You guys are crying about nothing.

The people that should be crying are the actual end users. Our raid's total perfomance just went' down by about 1% with this nerf. Making progression just a little bit harder.

There are still epic gems for Jewelcrafters, once they complete their questlines if I'm not mistaken. These gems look to grant +200 which makes them inline with these changes.

As an side: I don't think that noting raid performance "dropping" over this is... viable, since Legion raids are still locked.
