How long does "pending" take?

My friend sent me a recruit a friend email last night and i did it
and i upgraded to a standard account and it still says it pending
and im still restricted to what only trial accounts can do
and I'd like to be able to play normally. any advice on how long it takes
or if theres something i can do to speed the process.
