This year marks the fifth anniversary of the launch of World of Warcraft on November 23, 2004 -- and to kick off the celebration, every week for the next five weeks, we'll be giving out prizes to players as a way to "thanks" for being a part of the World of Warcraft community these past five years. Each week, we'll randomly select winners from a different group of accounts based on how long they’ve been playing the game. The first week’s winners will receive a World of Warcraft Charge of the Great Dragonflights stein courtesy of this week'’s sponsor, Taverncraft. For more details on prizing and eligibility, please check out the rules at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/contests/5year/index.html and stick around for more five-year-anniversary festivities in the weeks ahead!

I started a thread about this earlier but now that this thread is up I'll ask it here. I have 2 accounts but I haven't been using my first one I did create on Nov 24th, 2004 for the past few months. It says an account in good standing as of Oct 26th, 2009. So my question is if I reactivate it can I still be in the contest? Does good standing just mean not banned or did I have to be active as of that day? I figure only a blue will really know this one.

The way the sweepstakes is setup is we pick based off of when the accounts were created and which of those had an active subscription on October 26, 2009. Activating after this date will not make an account eligible but if the account already had the subscription, even if you weren’t playing it, then it would be eligible.

Can you please talk with the people running this about moving the first eligibility date (Nov. 23, 2004) up a few days?

Like many people, I bought the game on the day of release but was unable to actually create an account until Nov 24 because of server issues.

To my knowledge of how it's running, the specified dates here shouldn't be an issue.

So if we created our account on the 24th then we wouldn't be eligible?

For that part, I think you are right, I was just looking at the picks for this week in my previous statement, heh.

Wait - where's the women -Not one was included in the interview - It's time we had imput from the female gamer's point of view. Although I'm certain you have some on staff ( you do don't you?) there needs to be at least one in a "higher" position looking out for us lady players. Just an observation I couldn't resist commenting on.

There are women too on staff. We couldn't interview everyone, but figured we could focus on some of our key people and get some great interviews out.
