Raid ID "theft" Clarification

So after ~36 hours my ticket got answered.

On Sunday night at around 8PM AEST my guild zoned into Heroic ToC to continue to train ourselves for next weeks attempt at a Tribute to Insanity. Upon doing so we noticed that our "attempt counter" had been reduced to 1 despite us leaving it at ~37 on Friday night.

Naturally tickets were filed and we made a thread here hoping that there might be a chance we could get the issue resolved before our final raid for the week on Monday. A 36 hour turnaround on answering a ticket is fairly slow and even though the response wasn't exactly what I would have wanted if it had been the timing would have prevented us from being able to use an fix that a GM might have been able to provide.

Anyway as I mentioned my ticket got answered. I received the following in my email:

Q u o t e:
Answer: Unfortunately, at this time we do not consider a Raid ID as something that can be "owned" by any player, group, or guild -- inviting a PuG (for example) to a Raid saves them to the same instance just as much as it does for anyone else, giving them just as much right to complete it at a later time as anyone else in there. Our current policies do not allow for us to take any sort action against a "theft" like that at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Should you require further assistance, please submit another help request the next time you are online

Now I hope you'll forgive me for not wanting to see the "We are experiencing a large number of petitions at this time" message box covering my buffs for the next 36 hours when I really just want to ask:

We didn't "invite a PuG" and it is our belief that the following happened:

  • Someone tricked one of our members into a group, changed it to a 25 man heroic raid, promoted our member and then zoned into ToC in order to become saved to "our" raid id without us even realising or approving of this.

  • Does blizzard condone people or persons griefing my guild in this way?

If you do condone these actions I have two questions:
    1. Why?! Our guild should have the right to finish our raid id which we worked on. It seems morally reprehensible for someone to simply come in and deliberately wipe ~36 times in order to prevent us from tuning our strate for next week and getting loot probably from the Tribute to Skill chest. If anyone here doubts we are capable you can feel free to look at my armory to see that we have Tribute to Mad Skill probably indicating that we are more than capable of killing Anub'arak within a few attempts.

    2. Do the GMs here agree that this is a serious drawback of the 50 attempt limiter put in place in ToC?

If these actions aren't condoned then:
    1. Why can't something be done about this? Someone has screwed over my guild and gets off free, no questions asked.
    2. While I understand that the policy is that raid ids are collectively owned by the people saved doesn't it seem far more fair that a fully guild based run is owned by the guild who organised it?

I will concede that there is another option: One of my own guildies screwed us over. They were saved to the Id like most of our raiding core and therefore "had a right" (note that I'm not convinced that someone does have a right to do this) to use the instance however they please. Despite this being a "guild internal" matter wouldn't it seem fair to allow the rest of the people who worked on that raid id to know what happened to it? Wouldn't it seem fair to simply look in the logs and tell my GM Snc, or myself (as an officer) that "playerABC" went in on a certain day and wiped X number of times?

Basically I want to know: Why can't the rest of the people who collectively "own" the raid ID be told what happened to it?

I apologise in advance for the rapid fire questions. I hope I've avoided being as vague as I was in my originally submitted ticket. Also, while I appreciate all the responses from the delightful non-blue posters on this forum unless you are able to specifically link information from a case exactly like this where the questions being asked are the same then you'll forgive me for basically ignoring you.

    Thankyou in advance.
