I'm getting homesick.

I love this expansion. It's brilliant. I've found a great guild, I'm better geared than I've ever been, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the content. The environmental upgrades are brilliant, and the new leveling progression is great. I have only one complaint- I miss old Azeroth. Whenever I fly over Auberdine I remember myself at level 13, with my white-quality gear and ignorant enthusiasm, and my stomach wells up with nostalgia.

Anyway. I'm just curious to see if other people are missing it like I am.

There will always be an element of nostalgia when things change. I think it's great that you remember how things were with fondness. That means that we've managed to create something that has brought some emotional connection and (hopefully) good memories too. I'm also glad to hear that you're doing well now and hope that continues. Things change and move on. Change makes us appreciate what was, what is, and what can be. It's healthy even if sometimes it brings up a little nostalgia and and some sense of "it will never be that way again."

I still find myself flying over areas and thinking, "I remember when." But, like you, I'm enjoying the change too and enjoying the new exploration and playing a little bit of "find the differences" with the smaller details. It makes things interesting. I hope that those memories continue to bring you happiness rather than any sadness. You can never go to THAT "home" again, but "home" is always where you're at anyway.

...anyone else get really, really sad when they were going through the corpses of familiar NPCs from Auberdine?

Sadness, but only to a level exceeded by the anger when I found out Volcor didn't make it after all. Dammit, I SAVED him. Dammit.

You did a good thing and there was nothing more you could have done.
