I am confused on what this battle.net is? I keep getting information saying that I need to upgrade to a battlle.net account, and I don't know if this is real or a scam.

What is a battle.net account and why do I need to upgrade to it?

Also, I have gotten emails saying I will get a free in-game pet if I login and upgrade now. Is this for real? Because is seems fishy!

I just visited that site with no issues, Raelf =(. Have you tried clearing the cookies/cache on your browser, or using an entirely different browser?
