Clickers V Keybinds

CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK

I find it indefinitely faster to keybind than click. I myself will admit I clicked, 2 years ago. Ever since then though I would never go without keybinding. Even on the PTR with new characters I keybind.

It's not hard, and even if you somehow have a learning disability and can't use the default UI keybinding interface you can get addons. There is no excuse.

Actually, I take that back, clicking is faster, I need wrecking ball on yet another character.

People should play how they feel most comfortable. If someone is a faster clicker and it makes sense to them, then that's fine. If someone loves making macros and keybinds, that's fine too. Neither is better than the other and many people even combine the two depending on the circumstance. It's about playing within your comfort zone. That's not to say that complacency is good. Trying new things will help broaden playstyle and make it more clear as to whether one will fit you better than another. But lambasting others for a choice in how they play is never productive or constructive.

The only way to lift other players up is to give them the chance to learn without fear of being put down for their mistakes.

completely wrong.

Thank you for your in depth and concise opinion. I'm sure you have swayed many to your wise and powerful argument. ;)

Clicker spotted!

I do both. No complaints from anyone yet. I also mouse turn, not key turn. I'm also a PvPer.

I have a different opinion than perhaps you do, but that does not mean I am wrong. It's your opinion that I am and that's fine. You're more than welcome to have a different one than my own. ;)

Nah. I'm the same way. There are only really so many buttons you can get on a mouse, and so many buttons in reach of your keys. Stuff I don't use a lot, like hurricane in my resto setups, or buffs in general, don't have a keybind since it would require more space than I have close.

I do say though that using the keyboard for movement in turning is painfully obvious and dreadfully slow, so I can see that argument, and that clicking abilities takes longer too.

It just depends on the situation and the timing needed. I generally keep my instants within the keybind realm so I can use them quickly. For things that take longer or things I don't use a lot, clicking is fine. I do have my eye on a new mouse that I want though. I wouldn't mind having some keybinds a bit closer at hand there. ;)

It seems to me that people who play with their mouse and keyboard binds are people who have been playing video games for a while, and clicker\keyboard turners are people who started playing video games with WoW.

Go back a few years and try playing games like quake or unreal tournament or tribes by turning with your keyboard. We just learned the most effective way to move with an fps movement system YEARS ago.

I used to spend (probably) hours working on config files for FPS play including clan call outs etc. Things have become much more intuitive since then including having wasd as a default directional in many games now. But, it's true. Those who have a history of computer FPS play are more used to that style of movement. It doesn't translate exactly with MMOs but it's close. For those new to this style of gameplay, there is a learning curve, but hopefully, we continue to make that learning curve not so steep as to turn them off of giving it all a shot.

These sorts of conversations are always interesting, but keep in mind harassing or defamatory language towards others isn't necessary in the least. If you want to convince others that your way is better, the best way is to give them the tools to find out for themselves. Sharing your personal experiences is just that tool.

By the way, one being better than the other (in what I was referencing previously) has more to do with the individual player than an overall x is better than y. Some people have a harder time with using hotkeys and remembering them all. (As some have said in this thread.) They don't perform as well because they are fumbling for keys they don't feel comfortable with. Of course, that can be overcome with careful planning and practice. For others though, they don't care to change how they play and continue to do well with it. For them, clicking is better than fumbling for keys.

Most importantly- Playing shouldn't be stressful. It should be fun.

If you want to go with the pure X is better than Y, then you could prove that keybind is better provided you have two people of equal skill using one or the other in a perfectly even scenario. You'd also need to make sure they were using the exact same character with the exact same gear and abilities. Then you could measure the speed at which they handle an identical task and situation- At least, if it was a perfect scenario.
