MVP's never geared?

I've never seen a community MVP that's decked in 245 or 258 gear. Why? Seems like those would be the types that would become MVPs.

Min/maxing and possessing the ability, time and resources to down the current highest-tier boss doesn't necessarily equate to good game knowledge, nor are all hardcore raiders naturally in a position to provide players on the forums with good advice simply because of their gear score.

We pick MVPs based on their character, their knowledge of the game, and their presence on the forums. If a player seems well respected because of his or her posts over a long period of time and experienced with many facets of World of Warcraft game play, we'll consider him/her for MVP. We don't check achievements, talent specializations, Arena ratings, or gear when determining whether or not to offer MVP status to a player. We make that judgment purely based on one's posting history.

Of course, this is all aside from the fact that not all MVPs choose to post on their main characters, as doing so can run one the risk of undue attention in the game when they're trying to play. What character an MVP chooses to post on is entirely up to that MVP.

A lot of this is covered in our MVP FAQ: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=82238231&sid=1#1

Ew... that sucks...
I hate green... and Devilsaurs...

Unfortunately that's the way account flagging works for our forums. We ask the MVPs to stick to one character on the account to avoid confusion.

There was a forum bug not too long ago that deselected the posting character and selected another. And considering mornings I tend to post prior to coffee... I posted on my hunter quite a few times.

You're so banned. :p

Yet as a blue, you can post as a regular poster, because a blue post can only be done from a Blizzard account/ Blizzard HQ. Correct?

Our Blizzard accounts are entirely separate from our game accounts, so my Zarhym account is used for nothing but posting. I can still log into the forums with my Blizzard account from anywhere though, just like anyone else. There are just varying access levels on the forums to flag accounts with different privileges (i.e. moderator, community manager, technical support, MVP, etc).

I'm sure at least some Blues can post from places other than one of the Blizzard offices. After all, hasn't Ghostcrawler posted from a laptop on the beach while he sips drinks with little umbrellas?

That's actually technically his office. He only comes to headquarters to share news of a world outside of this. Ultimately, I feel bad for the guy though. He asked for no salt, NO SALT for the margarita.
